not sure of sexes yet but one is male because i heard crowing this morning.

If you really want to give them a treat take a dustpan and brush...lift an old rock...sweep up the woodlice underneath it and scatter them in with the quail...they love their food on the hoof (w00t) (or whatever woodlouses feet are called :- " )

They're very pretty - the eggs are great too...and don't take too much boiling!!

Eww clair sounds like a minging meal to me

aww, there really cute! Dont think they would last long in our house with the cats and the whippet. You gonna eat theres eggs!? :b

i will eat the eggs if one is actually a girl but think i may have two Mr quails unfortunately but i still want some chinese painted quail to breed so then i'll have lots of eggs....yum

Aw you lucky lucky thing..I just love these little birds,...they are so cute..

Are you keeping them inside, or will they go outdoors eventually...are they easy to keep...can they live with hens..?? can you answer 20 questions

I would love a couple :huggles:

Years ago we had a small avairy for a few cockateils and budgies. We also had 5 quail 1 male and 4 females. They are easy to look after and we got loads of eggs which we boiled and pickled :x .

they are currently in my spare room as they are only a few weeks old....eventually they will go outside but not until spring( i'm a bit of a softie and don't want them getting chilled.)They will move to my conservatory soon though because one of them has started crowing at five am and it's embarrassingly loud!

they are very easy to keep and absolutely lovely...they're in a rabbit cage but will go into a rabbit hutch when outside or maybe a small chicken ark type house.

they can live with hens but you need lots of space if you're having two males with hens incase they fight. a single male with five hens would be a perfect number.

i can't emphasize enough how sweet they are and how simple they are to feed and keep.

Aww they are lovely!

We nearly came back with some quails when we got Poppy.

The man bred them and sold their eggs.

My OH really wanted them but we don't have space right now :(

I didn't know they crowed!
