Just my two penneth on epupz.I know of several excellent breeders who advertise their litters through epupz.  Just because they are advertising on there does not mean that they will not vet the homes any less thoroughly than those that don't.

There are huge numbers of people out there who have no idea where to start when looking for a puppy and a lot of them will end up at epupz.  It doesn't mean that these are going to be bad owners; they will however be more likely to end up with a pup from a disreputable breeder.  There are as everyone has said good and bad everywhere.

We have not needed to advertise our litter as they have all been spoken for before the mating.  However, it does not mean that I am completely anti epupz; I believe it to be a good source of locating pups given that the buyer does their research into the advertised litter.  And I'm sure that the good breeders who are advertising on there vet their prospective puppy buyers just as throughly as we do; in fact I know that they do.

WELL you are very lucky to have sold all yours, i had some bookings but when you phone to tell them the litter is born they have already got one elsewhere, never before have i had so many timewasters  and still have three lovely 11 week olds available and am keeping the lovely lola and bobby

We have had our fair share of people letting us down too - ppl who said they definitely wanted one and then in the end couldn't wait a couple of months. We fully expected it though, I think it happens with nearly everyone.

Ultimately, I'm pleased that these people aren't having one and I am happy with the homes we have lined up for the babies now :huggles:

Can I just make a comment that there are sometimes reasons why people are unable to have a planned puppy, things happen in their life, circumstances which are sometimes difficult to overcome and valid reasons for putting the puppy first. I am sad tonight reading this that I could be considered a time-waster. Fortunately for me the puppy's breeder and the people who really matter do not consider me as such.

Oh Jenny, don't think that. All DECENT people realise that circumstances can change. I think the point was people who just change their mind willy nilly and string people along.

On a personal note, myself and Rach have had no problem with people finding another pup in the meantime and have encouraged the recommendation of other reputable persons, should our potential homes have wanted to find a pup sooner. I've passed a lot of enquiries onto other breeders

Well, I suppose i am also a timewaster for some of the people who are waiting for my pups. I tell them they can have one, they wait for many months for me to do the mating and in the end I may not have a puppy for them :) Last year there were several people who wanted Claudia, some of them are still waiting for my next litter.

Actually, I hate the term timewaster, I never feel I wasted my time dealing with people who are intersted in my pups or jus talking with people who want to know more about Whippets.

I do not take deposit, but ask people to let me know if they in meanwhile find another puppy. I also tell them of other breeders who i know have some pups at the moment. I email people on my list when bitch comes in season and the mating happens, then i let them know when the mating happens, pregnancy is confirmed. and start emailing photos when the pups are born. I just keep communication going and so far all the people who found another pup somewhere let me know. When people are carrying one of my puppies out of here want them to feel that this is the pup they really want. I would not want them to get him only because they did not want to loose their deposit, while they actually prefer some other puppy.

As far as canceling puppy, I have dome that also. Few years ago i had a puppy booked in Europe. But just as the pups were due to be born I was not well at all, i was in and out of hospital and not quite coping with the dogs I had. I canceled the order. As I did not feel it right to string the breeder along.
