The outside picture shows one problem with showing dogs of colour in that the handler is wearing trousers that merge in with the colour of the dog.

Absolutely, we have been telling him for years . However, while light colour pants would show the outline of the dog, it would not make any difference; the black of the dog would still absorb the light and the dog would look 2 dimensional in the photo. The other 2, in the same light do not.

having a black dog, a predominantly white dog and a light brindle to show i struggle to find the right outfit, serves me right really for not sticking with one colour  :lol:
i have to say that showing a black is not easy, a lot of the indoor venues don't have the light and are often packed with people wearing black or dark trousers, have black bags ringside etc which your  black dog just merges into, i love going to the outdoor summer shows where Oto can shine, it might be coincidence but he has always done far better at these shows than the indoor ones.

can't beat a bit of sunshine on your black dogs back  :thumbsup:

I have exactly the same problem - a blue, a predominantly white parti and a fawn - and there's NO WAY I'm going to take a selection of outfits to shows and change between classes. I generally go for pale blue trousers and a brightly coloured top - my fundament is too big for red or shocking pink trews!!

As Beejay says, matting can be a problem too, it's often black and the darker colours just disappear into it. Which can be disastrous with an unenthusiastic blue. The one show that got the matting exactly right for me anyway was the NWA - a white mat in the dog ring for my blue boy, and a black one in the bitches for my white girl!
