Questions, Questions, Questions!

Well done Fergal and Estelle. You've obviously cracked the showing lark!!! I'm sure your next show won't be so daunting. Fergal looks superb.

Well done Estelle and Fergal for surviving the day together

Whilst I know it must have been very disappointing not to have had any competition, Fergal looks great in the pix, you will have more confidence in him to behave next time, and you will know a lot more about what to expect from a show :) It really is a lot of fun, what about Midland Whippet Show on Jan 2nd, lots of us will be there! :p

I love that picture of Fergal standing proud, he looks so masterful and handsome. If I was to have a coat of arms I'd want him on it, rearing up like a magnificent lion... LOL, whippet rampant!
   You're mad!!!!

Fergal the Brazen - the magnificant LionWhippet!!!!  :teehee:

I have been wondering about whether to do another show. I don't think I'll do another Open Show in a hurry - I really want to see more WHIPPETS! When do entries close for Midland Whippet? Where is it being held? How will I persuade others that that's what they want to do on 2nd January?? :- " AND how will I redo the kitchen and put a shower in the bathroom at the same time as showing Fergal in a dog show??? :b

Thank you everyone for messages!! :D

See under Whippet Showing/Midland Whippet Limited Show Jan 2005 for all the details, and ask Jan for a schedule. It is in Northants, very easy to get to, near the M1

It's a lovely friendly show, and after a busy Christmas, a day away from the children is just the ticket, I always think :D :p , or more particularly from the mother-in-law!!! ;)

Go on, the kitchen can wait! :- "

:D :D Come and do an open show in the south-west we usually have around 40 whippets altogether!! I have never even had only 1 in a class at any Open show around here :p

WELL DONE though, Fergal looks like he behaved impeccably so you should be VERY proud

Where abouts are you??

Dessie,surely a judge can withhold 1st prize,therefore there wouldn't be a best of breed????
Yes, you can withold in classes and you could even withold a Challenge Certificate but a Best of Breed MUST be declared so it is pointless witholding a 1st place at an open show. In other words, even if all the dogs are rubbish, you must say which one is the best of the rubbish!!!

In all my years of showing I have only known one idiot judge withold a 1st prize at an Open show, in the Novice class of all things and there was four dogs present (not Whippets I hasten add). My friend was actually in the class and she came out with a VHC card, she must be the only person in the world to come 5th out of 4. We still laugh about it to this day.

Dessie``s quite right . You also have to give a Best Puppy too ( if there are any)

Shame you didnt have any competitors but Ive NEVER known only I whippet turn in all my years of showing 8)

Try and give the Midland Whippet a go . Im sorry I wont be there as we will be in sunny Spain ;)

Thanks for that Dawn, I used to like Sean Connery, well, and Jessie but I keep having conflicting thoughts now :x

What a shame that was how your first show went but Fergal looks superb and I am sure your next show will be great so go on go for it :)

Well done EMW & Fergal (who looks bloody brilliant in the pics)...you should both be really proud.

I think you really lucked out being the only whippet in the ring for your first show. Just think you actually got to go through the motions of a proper dog show without the added pressure of the competition - I mean I know the whole idea of showing is competition, but honestly what a fabulous practice run and introduction to the show ring...now when you come up against other whippets you won't be suffering from "first time" nerves.

Notwithstanding all that, aren't rosettes and ribbons just lovely!!!!

Well done to both of you and keep going with it...it's all good.
