In post" 6" of this thread,this race was to be between Ellie and Markbrick's dog,or dog's.From then till now there has been nothing but talk about this dog's achievements,n that dog's hight n whatever.It now seems that this race between these two,is not going to happen.So who's chickened out,and why is Ellie not having a run,which ,you have to agree, was the whole point of this thread even existing.Someone seems to have takin another road somewhere,and now we're all lost,as to what's happening. ...Billy...

As someone in Cornwall is willing to go out of their way to arrange a race between Ellie and Markbrick's dog, I think it's only fair to agree to the race to sort this out once and for all. Will wait to hear the date and time agreed between you and Markbrick. Also, as far as I'm aware Markbrick's dog is not a puppy, it is over 12 months old

Then Markbrick posted this post this morning which names the dogs that will race each other, I don't think Ellie will be racing at the meet?.

Right update, ive spoken to mikes best mate as he phoned me and ive agreed to two races as a dogs name was never mentioned its kit 19 against cleo 22inch and cat 22 and ash 24 i think thats fair 2 purpose bred workin dogs against 2 purpose bred racin dogs i am not going to stay and repeat myself thats my terms as ellie is over 24 and she wasnt mentioned as my dogs are more for sim and hurdles with a bit of longjump and i have dropped them

just need a date/venue now, both lads have been very sporting in accepting the chalenge and may the best dogs on the day win.

Right update, ive spoken to mikes best mate as he phoned me and ive agreed to two races as a dogs name was never mentioned its kit 19 against cleo 22inch and cat 22 and ash 24 i think thats fair 2 purpose bred workin dogs against 2 purpose bred racin dogs i am not going to stay and repeat myself thats my terms as ellie is over 24 and she wasnt mentioned as my dogs are more for sim and hurdles with a bit of longjump and i have dropped them

I've spoken to Barneyboy this evening... for those of you who dont know he is Les Paris who is Markbrick's lamping mate. The challenge was between Ellie who he said he hadn't beat because he hadn't had the chance to race against her. Les had spoken to Markbrick this morning to finalise the race details, offering him a 2 metre advantage because of the height difference, but Mark flatly refused to race against Ellie unless it was over 50yards with the 2 metre advantage as well!!! As far as racing Clio is concerned he knows I do not own this dog, she belongs to Mrs G Jones who has no interest in racing her. If he still wants to race against Ellie and Ash would he please contact Les to make arrangements. Otherwise, go back to winning races in your sleep.. I will carry on winning races in competition. PS. Ellie and Ash are both 23.75 inches tall so do not use Ellie's height as a reason not to race her when you seem quite willing to race Ash. Mike

Make it between 200-300 mtrs should be ideal for all sizes.

Lurchers race different size Lurchers in supreme finals.

Markbrick your dogs sound well worked so they should have good stamina.

did markB know who barneyboy was because in an earlyer post markb wrote

i'm starting to think this was a thread between mates to have a laugh?.

The chalenge seems to be 1 race between Les Paris's "ELLIE" and anyone of MarkBricks dogs?.

if your bothered about hight differances ect why not go for 3 races, 50yds, 150yds, 300yds best of 3 winner takes all the bragging rights?.

come on lads either give a date/venue and just have a race or drop it cos its getting a bit boring now.

You are correct Les is a friend of both these lads.I dont think Mark or Mike knew about this race before the thread was started,but I could be wrong.

The way I see it now is here's one final attempt to stage a race,if this isn't agreed on then let the lads wait till the show season starts and close this thread cause it must be getting on everybodys nerves by now. -_- -_- -_- -_- -_- Here goes

Mark - You have continuously said how fast your dogs are you have also said that you have beat Jerrys, Cleo and Mikes pup Ash,but you have also said you haven't raced Mikes Ellie.I know that Mike isn't sure if Ash will race due to injury/ops,but I think reading back he did agree to a race.My concern Mark is you haven't raced Ellie and surely you would want to race your fastest dog against Mikes fastest,or what is the point of a challenge,or are you a little tiny bit worried of racing Ellie :wink:Come on mate lets put this thread to rest once and for all your fastest dog against Ellie distance because of height difference 200yds.If this thread closes without an arranged race then so be it.Good luck and roll on the summer Karen

its got to be 1 owners best against anothers best otherwise nothing is gained from the race, you can't brag about beating an old laim dog if you get into hcps then people will only say so and so won because of the hcp ect..

The chalenge was made in public you both seem to be up for it, so I think you should take the lead and set a date/time/venue and see what happens from there. :thumbsup:

Couldn't agree more Mark, bragging rights would be enormous dont think 200yds would be handicap for either dog.Even though Marks dog is smaller he says they have exceptional stamina so they should last over 200yds,besides if 19lb whippets can run this distance and more i'm sure Marks can manage it.I saw Marks dog run at the Midland and that was alot longer distance.I am also pretty sure Mike wont worry about this distance for Ellie.We'll just have to wait and see if the race comes off or not Karen

With all the recent descusions about racing/breeding ect I thought i'd bring this back up?

WHY

well it seems once again theres a lot of gesturing on several threads yet when a race is offord it's not accepted?.

Come on lads sort this one out before you all start gesturing about how good your dogs are and who should/shouldnt run if you pick your shows/racing carfully you'll be ok :- "
