IVE PUT THEM ALL ON MARTIN TUCKERS THREAD.(PICTURES FROM ROSCREA).IT IS NOT VERY ENCOURAGING,WHEN YOU LOOK UP A THREAD,AND SEE THAT AFTER ALL THE HARD WORK THAT HAS TO BE DONE,TO NOT ONLY TRAVEL 2 HUNDRED MILES TO TAKE THEM,BUT THEN EDIT THEM,UPLOAD THEM,AND THEN POST THEM ON HERE,ONLY TO FIND THAT NO ONE IS INTERESTED ANYHOW,SO WHY BOTHER.MARTINS SON gAVIN WHO ALSO TOOK A LOAD OF PIX,IS JUST STARTING OUT WITH HIS CAMERA,AND IM SURE IT IS VERY DISHEARTENING FOR HIM TO SEE THAT NO ONE IS BOTHERED TO LOOK,NEVER MIND COMMENT ON HIS WORK.wE DO NEED ENCOURAGEMENT,AS IT IS ALL WE GET FROM THIS,THAT DRIVES US TO IMPROVE ON WHAT WE'VE DONE TO DATE.i FOR ONE HAD LOADS OF THE STUFF,WHEN I 1ST STARTED TAKING DOGGY PIX.SO COME ON FOLKS,GIVE THE LAD A REASON TO KEEP AT IT.

Thanks Billy, I told Gavin not to edit them and upload them as he had school the next day. He has enough to do and I sort of half guessed there wouldn`t be much interest in them ! Some people are more interested in commenting about stupid posts, patting each other on the back or causing trouble !

It was the best days Sport seen in this country regarding Lurcher racing and those of you that have any interest at all, in RUNNING your dogs and testing them, should pencil in St.Patricks weekend and enter your dogs !

Billy is talking about putting up his Shields. This will be the PROPER All Ireland and not the lame excuse of one that is run for at Shanes Castle !

Hi, billy

Ive looked at the pictures and thought they were absolutely brill, martins son should carry on with his hobby, nice to see a young lad taking an interst in something, rather that sitting at home on a computer game consol, wish we had coursing back here, as i miss it, i coursed with east of england club and my lurcher got into quite a few finals and picked up a few hares for an added bonus, keep putting your pictures up as it is nice to see dogs doing what theyre born and bred for, welldone gavin keep them coming

regards

Debbie

why did you attend shanes castle 2years ago then say you were sorry you couldnt make it this year as you were going on holiday if it was a lame excuse for the finals me seems to think you stick to the arm chair mate best place for you

I spent my early teens Racing Pedigree Whippets and saw the greats of their day Picketty Witch, Beetle, Silver Stream, Teddy Flash the list goes on and I used to, through the Whippet News follow the Non-Peds as well !

The racing in both codes, was and still is excellent. I love too watch good dogs, be they Whippets, Lurchers or Greyhounds compete against each other.

I went To Florence Court two years ago for my first Lurcher Show/Racing and was disappointed. Stood around for hours, one run up the field in a free for all and a long journey home.

I suppose I was expecting something different, more like I was used to many years ago. I heard so much about Shanes Castle and the `All Ireland` that I was excited about going and taking part, but in truth, even though Ernie won a pretty lame title as Whippet Champion the whole experience was a disapointment.

I would like to have gone back this year just to `defend` his `title`, but cicumstances prevented me.

Then I heard about the racing in Roscrea and Enniscorthy and I decided to check these out.

First stop Roscrea, where Ernie won two rounds, before being beaten by the winner. Brilliant days sport, well organised and even though he had no chance I really enjoyed the days sport for what it was. Off to Portlaoise for more of the same, where China never had to work as hard for a win. Ernie out in the 2nd round against a big strong dog who nailed him at the top of the field by a neck. Another well organised and run days sport !

3 visits to Enniscorthy over the Summer, long drive, but met some great people who love their racing. The racing is basic, but traps, track and drag make for competitive action.

Then Roscrea at the weekend, some serious animals on show. SIXTY FIVE course were run over a 320 yard stretch. The winner and runner up having to go up this field FIVE times and the winner proved herself an exceptional pup.

Now I look forward to when China can get it on with her, now that would be worth travelling to see.

A lot of you folk up the North know no different to what you have been doing for years, but I can tell you it`s a differnet league at these events. If your happy to compete locally then that`s up to you and I`ve no problem with that, all i`m saying is, THIS is where the real dogs are running and this is the type of meeting that should and could be staged at your venues. Sundays meet took FOUR hours to complete, but the action was intense !

I do hope many of you will come down next year to take in and support and compete.

I`m not knocking anyone who has achieved a title at Shanes Castle, as you can only beat and win whats on offer, but I myself know where the real Champions are competing.

I`m really looking forward already to the 2009 season, there are some exciting young dogs out there and it would be great if some of the No Limit Scatch dogs from the UK would come over here to compete against the locals ? Now that would be a days Sport !

Hi BillyBoy45,

It does get frustrating on here. Not many people who like racing/coursing etc. In my defense i did post up how much I liked Martin's photos...... but that was on a different greyhound forum! Don't get disheartened, there are lots of people out there who love to see the photos....just a lot more that prefer to see pics of dogs in fluffy pink jumpers! :D

Billy, as you know I've been taking photos for a few years now and mainly within hours of a racing event, they'll be on K9 and we're talking hundreds of shots. I don't do this for praise, I do it because years back a pro took a photo of one of my dogs and I was in awe and absolutely determined to learn how to do the same. When I get back from racing, I can't wait to see what I've got and I'm eager to share them because I hope that I'll produce the same feeling in someone else the same way that pro did when he got that fantastic shot of my Nelly.

I thought you did some great piks (like I said on the thread) but I felt a bit bad on Martin when I overlooked his own link to his sons piks (which are also brilliant).

If you want to pull off good shots Billy, you've got to want it for yourself, not for the sake of everyone else as that's the sole motivation that'll want you to improve everytime.

As for Deirdre's PM, I don't think she was being particularly nasty in my opinion. In fact I think she was trying to sympathise with your loss even though you'd offended her. It's no slap in the face if someone else tell's you they've gone through the same, in fact it's probably reassuring that others have gone through simlar and pulled through.

Personally, I think your understandibly hurting at the moment and you might need a bit of time out to gather your thoughts before you say something rash that you might regret later, especially when friends are so precious at times like these.

Kirsty, instead of ranting, which solves nothing, go and talk to your Dad, he needs your support in a more positive way at the moment. Threatening folk will only increase anger and upset which your Dad really doesn't need right now.

i was not threatening in any way...thats not me atal but i was just getting my point across...i knw that my dad and all my family need me at the moment which is were i am....and i am not ranting...thats what most people on here do..i dont get why its ok for some people to rant on here but when I come on and say sumthin im getting accused of threatening. And dad doesnt even knw that I've put this post on..i done if of my own free will. And as for my dad offending someone..I dont see anything offensive in my opinion...neway Ive better things to do than sit on here and explain miself ..I speak my mind and that's the type of person that I am..as sum people knw themselves

Wasn't realy lookin for praise of any kind Jaq.Guess it must have come across like that though. What i do like though,as im sure everyone else does,is a little bit of encouragement,as we all need that.As i said,i didn't go down there to race, just to get away from it all for the day,if that was possible.Only when i seen that no one at all had looked at Martins thread, and knowing that some of Gavins photo's were spot on,and no one had sort of ,bothered to look at them through the link or whatever,i was a bit disapointed,so voiced my oppinion,(as usual)No one on here knows what we are going through at the moment, cause there may be another family death in the next few day's as my nephew who carried my dads coffin with me,has contrcted Meningitis for the 2nd time in 2 years, and this time he may not pull through. If he does,he will probibly lose both legs, and GOD knows what else.So things are not what they should be,so it's no wonder im pissed off with the world, and everyone in it at times. My dad for the past year n a half, was my best mate,so im hurting big time, and don't think it fair what was said.I do strive to perfect my photography, and, as im sure you know youreself,a bit of encouragement and praise goes a long ,long way.I traveled 200 mile there, and another 200 mile back, just to get pix for K9 members to enjoy.I also enjoyed taking them, and giving Gavin all the good advice i could,to help him.Just like you did for me,when i started.I had no intention of raising anyones hackles, just giving folk summit to enjoy.Seems a few didn't enjoy them too much.Taking pix of folk just standing about,or sitting,or standing at the start line is ok,but getting good action shots,as you know,is not easy if you just haven't got the right kit,so a lot of extra effort has to be put in,such as exposure, sharpening, and all sorts of edditing,to make them look the best you can.Its not just a point and shoot thing.Guess ive said too much again,so im off to read some other stuff, before i have to feed the pups again.Always enjoy and admire youre photography Jac,and wish for the day i can even get near to matching it. ...Billy...

sorry but i am just fed up with you sympathy searching. you wer out of order posting a private message from a woman on here and you have the cheek too make out you are picked on and inocent ! you had nobody comment on your pictures so you went into a huff and took your ball back but yet you say i wasnt looking for praise. i have not read one of you posts were you havent mentioned about "what im going thru, and nobody knows..." yes we all do ! you arnt the only person to loss a loved one recently but youre such a sanctimonious man you think you are. gtet on with your life like all our familys must do !

i wont be reading anymore of your posts.

Sorry to hear more bad news Billy i bet its been a rough few months for both you and your family.

Also GD some people are different from others, some like to talk about a death others like to keep it to them self, then in time they blow.
