Hi,

I was just wondering how old puppies have to be before they can have rawhide treat chews and pigs ears and those bones with stuff stuffed inside, hope that makes sense!!

I give Poppy puppy treats but would like to give her something she can really chew on, any suggestions?

Thanks

ive always given mine a piece of pigs ear from as young as 8 weeks and the same for rawhide treats, and the most important bit is they only get them when supervised

i know alot of people dont give pigs ears cause of the choking hazards but ive never had a problem with any of my 8 :)

Dudley has been having a rawhide since he was about 10weeks and he loves it, it's like a bed time bottle he always has a cuddle whilst chewing on his rawhide before he goes to sleep, I always supervise him though as big chunks can come off and i'm scared he chokes :b I think most treats are suitable after 12 weeks though, it usually says on the packet

Thanks

I will get her one tonight!

And don't worry, I watch her like a hawk already with all the rubbish she picks up to try and chew! Would hate anything to happen to her. :huggles:

Poppy says thanks in advance as I'm sure she will enjoy her chew!

I've read conflicting things about rawhide chews but both mine had them from young puppies but as you say just keep an eye out and also throw them away when they get to say a couple of inches long as they may be tempted to swollow it whole when they get too small

I am with you Trish... I gave both of mine piggy ears and raw hide at 8 weeks and as long as you are with them watching while they chew to make sure nothing happens, they are fine

I give my pups things to chew on from about 4 weeks onwards. I give them chicken necks, and whole large marrow bones, which they just lick and then nibble the bit of meat off it, then their mum gets it and takes it away. :)
