i did ask after you at the champs

Sorry for the confusion he wasn't at the champs Shaz he first went lame 3 weeks ago and over that time he's not got any better. :(

Hopefully the greyhound vet I'm going to on Thursday can come up with something.

(Oh and in case anyone is wondering. That's 3 weeks of restricted exercise, daily massage and stretching and mag box treatment, 1 vet visit and 1 chiropractor visit).

Thanks Janice, Tina, Shaz, June and Julie. :huggles:

Jest has damaged his shoulder joint. Luckily for him and me there is no soft tissue damage so that means that he is still able to walk. The muscles and tendons are keeping the joint apart. Had I done what the first vet told me to then he'd have been walked on the lead as per normal and if he had been walked too far then his muscles would have tired and then we'd have had a dog screaming and unable to walk.

Hopefully the treatment plan I've been given will work (well if I can get it to work) and he is now on the road to recovery. At the minimum he is not allowed to go for a walk for 4 weeks. Unable to run for 6 weeks. It's looking unlikely that he will be back on the track this year.

Thank you to everyone who has phoned and who have asked about him on here. Your support is really appreciated. :huggles: I have found the weeks of not knowing what's wrong with him to be shall we say rather trying.

Thanks again. :huggles:

Sorry to hear that Barbara, we do know how you feel. You try your best for them, and sometimes, although we wrap them in cotton wool at times, they still manage to get injured. Years ago my whippets used to run on any old field, we didn't worry whether there were potholes, uneven ground, cornstalks, foreign objects etc. Nowadays, we are so fussy about what we let them do, and still they get injured.

Jest is young, and I'm sure he will bounce back next season - give him a hug from us. :huggles:

Hug for Ron too :huggles:

Barbara,

who were the vets you have seen? Have you used them before? Do you know how and when the injury occured? I know somebody who is very good at treating the kind of injury you have described if you are interested.

The vet is Sandra Osbourne at Honiton. She is very good and very thorough. Best guess about the injury is, first signs of anything wrong was on the Thursday just before Gloucester should have been on. I can't see that he was like it at the Northern as there was no sign of lameness that evening or the next day. So it happened sometime during the week between the Northern and Gloucester.

Could you pm me with the contact details of the person please. Or we'll be at the Lizard running our super fast show breds. They bring up the rear in such style. So we'll see you there.

Thanks Rob

Yes, Sandra is very good Rob. Very thorough. Finds the things that some others don't.

Hope Jest recovers soon Barbara. At least you know now what the problem is
