"then after 3weeks he can have a sprint" are you sure that's what the vet said? That you have to keep him quiet for 3 weeks and then let him run, without building his body and foot back up again prior to the 'sprint'? Does your wonderful vet know that you run on grass and not sand? Would it make a difference to the bringing back if this was known? Sometimes I wonder what constitutes a wonderful vet!

A few years ago a very fast dog had foot trouble, and a vet of similar credentials was consulted, the dog was treated, and the owner followed the advice of this wonderful vet, (similar to your advice actually), and guess what, the dog was u/s as far as racing was concerned -that very first sprint - the feet went again but for ever this time as there was nothing more that could be done.

The punctured stifle last year took 6 weeks of bed rest, then 2 mins around the block, building back up over MONTHS not weeks. BUT, he is not lame now. Different vet, different treatment, but if I were a dog, I know which one I would want to be my vet!

He can't be walked for 3weeks, then he can have 2 weeks of walking and after the 2 weeks he can have a sprint, the vet was very pleased on how things went

Hi every-one just come back from 4 days in Cornwall :( had a lovely time, boys enjoyed themselves, Big Ron is doing well :) his toe don't seem to be bothering him, but he is very eager to have a run :( but we have to wait a while.

first of all i would like to wish big ron all the best in his recovery, but with big ron doing his toe twice this year will you run him on the bends again? as we have a dog that did his toe at the 1st champs on the bends some people say dont run him again on the bends and some say you can run him on the bends whats your opinion? and will u be running big ron on the bends again? as we are fairly new to racing our dogs.

We are not sure on whats happening with him, as time will tell. We went to an excellent vet, and on a road to recovery, we have had expert advice and just have to wait, we will be checking the ground first.

Have you been to a greyhound vet yet, and what did they say about your poor guys toe? which toe did he do?if we can help in any way with advice we will try and help you.

We wish you luck with him

we went to a greyhound vet and he said it wasn't a bad injury and said to give him plenty of rest which we did do, and he is now racing again because this was back in april and has had no recurring injury since and the toe has calloused up and does not seem to bother him on the straights but we have not run him on a bend since because we are not sure whether to risk it or not. many thanks for any advise you can give us
