Maybe it would just be best to keep them in a cage one their own in the back and make frequent stops do you think?

Possibly - it depends on the dog and the crate would have to be secured so it couldn't move. Also to consider is whether the back is open to the front or not - if it was me I would want to be able to keep an eye on the dog and you might not be able to do that if the back is closed off.

I will build an intergrated crate I think. It can double up as an open den/bed when Im working in the back (Im an artist, my van is my girl-shed). Like you say, it depends on the dog and we can talk to the fosterers about this too.

If you adopt a lurcher, they may have considerably more reach than other dogs, so if he's secured in the centre front seat he may still be able to either lay his head on your lap or sit on it while you're driving:eek:

On one occasion my dog, who was unrestrained on the back seat, decided he wanted a better view and ended up with his back paws on the back seat, front paws on the front seat, and nose on the windscreen... we now have a dog guard in between the back and front seat!

Well do let us know if and when you get your new buddy! And a picture!

Hmm yes good point. So far the biggest dog that has sat there is a labradoodle, which was fine. I could see that if I had to brake quickly he wouldnt hit the dashboard but he was still comfortably seated within the length of the harness seatbelt restraint. So thats the largest dog we should get (size, not breed) I think and maybe just a little smaller would be better.

O...M...G... she is the cutest pup ever! What breed/mix is she? How old is she? She looks very young.

She was rescued off the street with her two sisters and will live with a foster parent until the end of August
Shes just so lovely. I will post again when we get her. She is about 8 weeks apparently, so will be 16 weeks when she comes home. What breeds do you think she could be?

I honestly couldn't say - I'm not an expert I'm not sure it's possible to tell at that age anyway.
Will the rescue/foster be making a start on her socialisation (if they haven't already)? 8-16 weeks is quite a critical time.

No it was just a bit of fun to guess really :) Yes she is in safe hands with her foster mum and dad. They have their own dogs and at least one cat. She asked if we wanted to change her name so she could start using it straight away. I have seen a video and she is extremely lively and cheeky!

She's lovely. Oo I love guessing breeds (don't have a clue really though.) I'm going to go with some sort of terrier/ Jack Russel in there as look like she could be more coarse-haired when she's older?! Though just realised she looks quite floppy eared like my dog. I'm going spaniel/terrier/collie

We thought Jack Russel and something and yes cant quite work out if she is course or softer. The foster mum has sent me videos of her playing with her own dogs. Wonderful!
