I was out on my chair taking scarlet a walk and trying to do a bit of training with her as shes still a daft 6 months old pup even though she is a big girl. we have to come back home on the road round a grass irland verge as we cant gte on the foot path. we werehapply pooteling along and saw a couple of girls aged about 10 on the grass island with a golden retever type dog playing ball with it so i took scarlet as far over the other side of the road as we could go. As we past one girl said to the other dont let honey see that dog next minet the dogs chasing us growling snarling and barking. i shouted get you dog on a lead as the 2 girls just stood there like ideots doing nothing. the dog was realy going fo scarlet I am with my right hand stearing my chair to get away as the left hands trying to keep scarlet out of this dogs reach. the dog did bit scralet on the thigh but lucky its only a scratcg thets been cleans so will keep an eye on it. i manged to stick my leg out inbetween scarlet and this dog and the girsl shouted the dog and it then did back off. I cross the road junction at the end and looked to see the dog comeing again. thank god we got round the corners quick and it gave up. I was realy shocked when i got back so was scarlet shes ususly scared of nothing so to see her shaking was horred.

what are 2 girls doing having a dog out like that with no lead on and no adults about. Its thye scecond time now iv had a dog go for me when out with the dogs. I am not giving up taking them out with me but carnt think what to do to protect me and the dogs. I dont have a spare hand as ones on the chair comntrols and if i take m hand way it stops and the others holding the lead any ideas. if it had been the smaler whippets they would have just jumped on my knees so i could have let go of there lead and hit the vbloody dog but carnt do that with scarlet or even forrest if hes out wioth me as there too big.

were this dog was is the only way out for me off the estate as all others my chair wont go. so i am realy fed up . my rouits getting less and less with ideots and there dogs round here

im sorry to hear this wendy , :( ring the dog warden and the council and make a huge complaint !!!

Oh, how horrible for you and poor Scarlett. Bad enough when you can choose a different walk, but sounds like you are forced to go the same way :( Yes, i agree they should be reported.... Leaves you feeling very shaken up- hope you both are ok soon :)

What an awful experience, Wendy. You and Scarlet must have been really frightened. :( :(

I would report it to the Dog Warden. The parents should be made aware that their dog is not safe to be off the lead, and particularly with a couple of kids.

so sorry to hear that, what a horrid thing to happen :( and the stupid parents who let the kids take out an agressive dog like that  how irresponsible! had it been a younger pup it could have been left disturbed and scared of dogs for the rest of their life

hope both you and Scarlet are feeling better now and Scarlet's not too shaken.

Dog warden and police! If the dog frightens or risks hurting you, it's an offence. Dangerous Dogs Act isn't just for Pitt Bulls.

Can you or a friend photo or vid the dog with your mobile or whatever? To help with later id? All sounds rather formal I know, but it really is bad so many people get away with causing so much misery by having out of control, nasty dogs.

scarlets only 6 months old and has allways been fab with other dogs so hoping she still is the dog was realy aggressive thank god scarlet moved about alot and quickly if she hadnet been so nibbel she would have been bit much more. iv seen dog go for other whn there being stared at and stuff but scrlat hadnt even seen the dog and was trotting along looking at me so there was no trigger for the dog to attack. if i had been with ruby cos she barks at other dogs i could ahve sort of said well ok ruby gave crap back but all poor scarlet did was cry which was realy sad cos shes normily not scraed of anything and allthough shes a sod shes a happy sod. we dont ahve a dog warden anymore here. But I am prety sure i know who owns the dog and i will begoing round having a word with her

Oh Wendy, that's frightful for you both!

Here's some hugs for you and Scarlet :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

So sorry you have had this horrible experience Wendy and Scarlet :( :(

Sending you some big :huggles: :huggles:

Had a couple of bad expeiences out with Star recently (9months old)

Bloody irresponsible dog owners

How frightening for you - why do adults allow children to take out dogs like this? Last week I saw a girl of about 10 with a great dane and it was just about pulling her off her feet so I quickly crossed the road as I was scared so I cannot imagine how you felt in your chair.

How about carrying some kind of spray or a stick that folds up that you can carry?

 OMG Wendy, poor you, and poor Scarlet. I hope she is not frightened of other dogs now - Max and Tiny were attacked by a black lab about 2 years ago and now Tiny is scared of all black dogs - except black greyhounds and whippets.

I'd definitely report them - and explain your situation as well, it's just not on. I saw a staffy (black) last week when I was out with Tiny being walked by a small child who looked maybe 5! I had to dive across the road to avoid it because Tiny kicks off barking when he sees black dogs - although not so much if he is on his own because he is nervous walking on his own, and Max still can't do big walks.

I hope you are both soon feeling better. Lots of hugs. :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

How awful, contact police and they can enforce dog muzzling and that it's on a lead whilst out. Odds are you're not the only one to be attacked by it and it could be known to them.

That is awfull, it is a dread of mine to be attacked while out with Jovi a bloke near us has some big dogs and often off the lead it is'nt fair and not responsable I am glad you came to no harm but it could have been nasty. Wellybob

tony came with me to take the rest of the dogs out last night but I know i have to go out in a while and take them out on my own. tony thinks i should take ruby first cos shes a git with other dogs and would fight back. what makes me mad is i know rubys a sod so i never let her off lead were anyone can be and if i think there are going to be free running dogs shes muzzled. even so i wouldnt let alex take her out and alexs is stronger and taller than me. It was odvious the kid new the dog was no good with others yet maid no move to put a lead on it. we did see the 2 girls later across the road and i shouted you dog bit mine the girl who owns the dog just said oh sorry then the waked of giggling. but I now know who owns trhe dog so will try and coller the mother allthough dont think she will care. Iam not shook up any mre just mad people can be so stuped

Sorry to hear about your bad experience Wendy, I agree with the other posters that you should report this to the authorities. Hope you are feeling better soon
