Im letting you know about Scratchs amputation, its is still early days yet and the operation on the stump still looks sore and really bruised.

Scratch is slowly on the mend, she has been wolfing down her favrourite salmon, where the night before I had to hand feed her. Tonight we will try her on her normal butches dog food. Scratch just want to lick her stump when no one is looking. Im still having to watch her constantly so its a good thing I am able to work on my charity quilts. Cheers everyone for your support I will keep posting on here to let you know how Scratch is getting on

Scratch was running and racing with Alice as shes always has done for years running like a mad racehorse across the playing fields, then she just came to a halt and start limping back to me. I thought it was just a strain as she has done this before but the injury was a severe stress fracture that had broken her bones in several places. She did have an operation where the vet put in a metal wire and some screws but sadly the bones just would not fuse or except what had been done and six weeks later (around now) the vet said the only kindest option was to amputate her leg. I will of course keep everyone informed on her progress and what the vet says. Thanks for your message John.

Ooh that does look sore! :( Poor baby.  I'm sure it won't take her long to heal though. :luck:

Hope Scratch makes a really good recovery, she looks in good nick otherwise, and is obviously much loved  so I'm sure she will do really well and be bouncing around in no time at all :huggles: :luck:

aww! bless her heart lets hope she makes a speedy recovery :luck: :luck: :huggles: :huggles:

Poor Scratch :( she looks very sorry for herself in the photo but I'm sure she'll be up & about again very soon.

How old is she? I'm guessing by her grey muzzle that she may be an elderly lady  She's lovely.

lots of :huggles: to Scratch...the poor wee dote...here's hoping she soon able 2 play and have fun again... :luck:

Great to hear Scratch is eating well Faith - that means that although she's bound to be a bit sore still - she is feeling OK. Lots of love to you both :huggles:

Bless

Wishing Scratch a speedy recovery  I'm sure she will soon be back running around - it's amazing how quickly they adjust :D

Lots of :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: for you all :huggles:

Bless her  I hope Scratch makes a speedy recovery

Hi, my lurcher had his leg amputated at the end of January. he was very sore

and swollen but by the time the stitches came out he was doing fine and looked

really well.

They manage without a back leg so much better than a front.

I video'd my 2 the other day, this is how good he is now.

Lots of love sent to scratch

 What a fantastic video - a really good one to show people that their dog is going to be able to lead a good life after an amputation

Thankyou so much for showing me the video it really made me smile to see all the dogs running again and having fun. Scratch is still sore and getting rather cheeky leaping on beds when no one is looking.... and doing a runner to next doors garden do dump her deposits when I am expecting her to hop like an old lady.

Meanwhile I have to pay Scratch's vets fees so I am selling a lot of horsy things on ebay under the name of xfirelionx from tommorrow onwards and the next few days I will be listing a brandnew navy show jumping jacket size 16 and other bits and pieces that I can find all to try and raise money for Scratch.

Thankyou again for all your concern I will post some more pictures of her later.
