Hi everyone,

Has anyone got any spare hugs for Arnie and myself?

My boy got up and couldn't walk this morning. Every time he put weight on his front leg (one remaining!) he fell over. He was yelping in pain which isn't like him at all! As far as I'm aware he hasn't damaged it...I haven't seen him fall on it or anything, so how can he wake up like this?

Rushed him to the vet who said its most probably soft tissue damage in the shoulder area. There is no swelling or external damage. I know I shouldn't over react but I've been crying all day. He only has the one leg to support him at the front and he can't afford to damage it. I am most probably completely over reacting but I'm so worried about him. Vet gave him prednisolone (steroid) for 5 days.

He looks so sad....I feel so bad for him. I really don't know what to do for him. He is trying to get up and walk around but keeps falling over.

Anyone got anything positive to say to me to stop me panicking that something is seriously wrong with him?

Sending lots of hugs your way, and the boys send healing licks to Arnie.

He may have a slight injury ... I used to ride and often thought I'd got away with a fall ... until the next day. Perhaps he took a knock and only really felt it after it had stiffened up over night. Then his brain tells him to favour the other leg to protect the injured one, but of course the other leg isn't there so over he goes.

Be well Arnie and stop worrying your Mum.

Annie

Lots of hugs for you and Arnie! Just when he was doing so well.

I do hope it turns out to be a knock or something similar and that he can bounce back with his amazing will and strength of character.

Best wishes and licks, Arnie, from all of us. xx

Hope it isn't anything serious :( Hope he is feeling much better very soon :luck: Sending lots of hugs to you both :huggles:

Loads of Hugs to you and Arnie xxx Hope he feels stronger again tomorrow when he gets up xx

so sorry to hear about Arnie. me and the kids send lots of love and hugs. we hope Arnie is feeling better very soon.

you could also give Arnie some arnica deans do an arnica liquid with a pipet so you can just popit on his tounge, you can aslo get an arnica gel which you could put on his shoulder. arnica is very good for brusing, and strains. it certainly wont do him any harm.

GET WELL SOON ARNIE!! :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

all our love Dorris and the kids sam, millie, lizzie, blue and alfie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Poor Arnie. Lots of hugs for you both :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

I'm sure its nothing serious, although its only natural you should worry, after what you have been through with Arnie. Try not to worry though, as it's probably a bit of arthritis or something quite usual for a dog of his age. His other leg takes more strain, and maybe he has twisted it or something. Bet he's bounding around again in a few days. Try and get some rest both of you xx

Just thinking - he hasn't got anything in his foot has he??? Thorn or grass seed????

Plenty of hugs coming your way sarah and arnie

:huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

:huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

Try not to worry too much sarah, as arnie will pick up on this.

Hope he is a lot better in the morning

Keep us updated wont you

Try to stay positive for Arnie , hugs coming from here too :huggles:

oh no im sure he will be fine sarah he has probably just knocked himself positive thoughts from us all here xxxxxxxxxxx :huggles: :huggles:

Thank you all so much. Arnie seems a little better today but is still not able to move around too well. He hasn't cried out today which is a relief but he is moving incredibly slowly and is slipping quite frequently. His leg seems to be giving out at the shoulder so I wonder if he has pulled a muscle in his shoulder area.

June, we checked his pads and nothing.

He is on day two of the steroids so heres hoping that day 3 will see him moving around more easily.

Still a real worried mess over here but trying not to let it show. I just feel so sorry for him after everything he has been thorugh.

Thanks again for the kind thoughts.

just seen this,

i am sending loads of hugs to lucious arnie oh and a few to you :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

just stay positive and that will get you through

I've only just seen this too ....... I do hope Arnie is improving now, Sarah

That's something that hadn't occurred to me, damage to his good leg. Of course he relies on it completely now and it will be under more strain as it's doing double the work. I should imagine that leg is now very strong but even the strongest of athletes can suffer a muscle strain and that's painful

Good luck to the little man :luck: :luck: and lots of hugs :D :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles:

Poor boy. Thinking of you, hope he is better soon.

Hows arnie sarah ?

I do hope he's a lot better :)

I constantly worried that jesse  might hurt his remaining hind leg :(

Hi everyone,

Thank you all so much for your replies. He seems to be doing okay but still not right. He's moving slowly and it looks like a real effort. When he gets up after sitting for a while he has to steady himself before he can move.

I'm a mess. THis was one of my fears, that he would hurt his one remaining front leg. All I can do is hope that the steroids can give him time to get better.

He has another couple of days on them so fingers crossed.

He seems fine in himself though and is still being 'Arnie'!

Thanks again for the positive thoughts.
