Also..no-one has mentioned that this little girl went to her own uncle for help, crying ! She asked if she could stay as she didn`t want to go home. I read this  on the `net` it was on Orange home page news.
He must have taken her back home though  and then the next day she was missing, seen by two boys crying her eyes out sitting on a wall near her home. This little girl was obviously very upset and how do we know she hadn`t asked this guy for help too...We don`t know. She may have done and then he has been too scared to come forward. Sometimes people panic and don`t think straight.

The papers are all for sensationalism. I thought it very odd that the `above` facts weren`t mentioned when they were talking about this guy  abducting her, which isn`t really fair as it gives the general public the wrong ideas.

It is wonderful that she is safe and well but her family needs checking up on. Something, somewhere doesn`t seem quite right.

I've been thinking along those lines too, although I hadn't heard anything to that effect. I wondered if this 'uncle' was actually 'sheltering' her as she was unhappy/afraid of life at home for some reason. We don't know that he has done her any harm at all, so we really shouldn't judge.

Man charged with Shannon kidnap

Shannon Matthews: Went missing for three weeks

A man who was found by police in a flat with a missing nine-year-old schoolgirl has been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.

Shannon Matthews was discovered on Friday at the flat in Batley Carr, West Yorkshire, 24 days after disappearing from nearby Dewsbury.

Her stepfather's uncle, Michael Donovan, 39, formerly known as Paul Drake, was arrested at the property.

Mr Donovan will appear before Dewsbury magistrates on Tuesday.

'Assessing evidence'

Peter Mann, head of the Crown Prosecution Service's (CPS) West and North Yorkshire complex case unit, said: "The Crown Prosecution Service has been working closely with the police in connection with this case since the arrest of Michael Donovan, formerly known as Paul Drake, on Friday March 14.

"As the case has developed we have been carefully examining and assessing the evidence in order to come to a charging decision at the earliest possible opportunity.

"Having carefully considered all of the material supplied by West Yorkshire Police, we have made the decision that there is sufficient evidence and have authorised that Michael Donovan should be charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment. We will continue to keep this case under constant review as it develops.

"Michael Donovan will be appearing at Dewsbury Magistrates' Court tomorrow morning."
