Racing hounds die in arson attack

A pack of racing hounds burned to death when they were trapped inside kennels set alight in a suspected arson attack.

The dogs died during the fire at Old Lodge Farm, in Burtonwood, near Warrington, Cheshire, on Tuesday night.

About 40 firefighters were called to the blaze, which is thought to have started in an outbuilding before spreading to the kennels and a barn.

Firefighters managed to rescue some dogs from the kennels but about 15 are believed to have died.

"Unfortunately, a number of animals perished in the fire," a spokeswoman for Cheshire Fire Service said.

"An investigation has been launched alongside the police into whether the fire was started deliberately."

A family member at the farm was too upset to comment.

 Would like to do the same to those who started the fire

Oh how awfull ....... I hope they catch the people responsible for this cowardly act

Copied fron another site

The total number of dogs that perished was 18 and that was at 10-30am this morning.

Apparently quite a few dogs are un accounted for,the reason being, the fireman smashed doors down to let the dogs out, under these conditions the poor dogs must have been panic stricken and have run off in all directions.

All I can ask is for people in the area to keep a look out for any loose greyhounds, these greyhounds are going to be very traumatised, and will need gentle coaxing.

Makes you wonder what sort of people would do this sort of thing and WHY.... the poor animals that survived must be hiding bless them :b

There are a lot of sick people about in this world who don't give a sh*t it's very sad :( :(
