The other thing that annoyed me is that he did not give each dog their 'money's worth'. He barely went over TJ on the table whereas others he went over them with a fine tooth comb. He made it blatantly obvious that he wasn't interested before he ever saw him move up and down. I don't mind whether he liked him or not but it is just plain rudeness not to give equal attention to all exhibits.Millie said:Yep thats him........... nothing wrong with the dogs he did place today, some I like very much  BOB went to the puppy.JAX said:Syblec affix or something like that ? Smart chap , 50ish , grey hair . If it is him he gave Libbee best of breed and the group last summer at Brigford and dist :bMillie said:JAX said:Millie said:nina said:

The judge even withheld VHC in grad and openIt was only an open show
And of the 5 dogs he thought wasn't good enough to be considered worthy of the 5th placings 1 has a res CC
Well done Dawn
Do tell us who the judge was :- " One to avoid me thinks
Roy Baker (allrounder)
Just feel to withhold vhc in 2 classes at an open show is a bit sad !!
Hmmm that scenario sounds VERY familiar....... Can there be more than one of these people????nina said:Was more p****d off by a half starved dog & neurotic vegetarian owner wanting to breed this poor pathetic mite!

From what I saw as a spectator methinks it is the handlers who have special needsdawn said:Well.........................................What a day!!
Best Veteran in Group with 'U' whippet
(Didnt stay for BIS cos the weather was getting bad and I had a Turkey to return)
Best of Breed and Group 2 with Cleena!! (and I was handling not Richard)
I thought I had drawn the short straw having to show Cleena (we have decided because she is so naughty that she is a 'special needs' whippet)
Will try and get a photo later with her rosettes if they havent been eaten by then (w00t)

reminds of of a scene from the film shirley valentine  shouldnt laugh, really :b but in that film shes looking after her neighbours basset hound? and couldnt help but give it the steak she was supposed to cook for her husband.nina said:
Thats debatable (w00t)
No, seriously it wasn't a he.
I know we are kidding around BUT i was very concerned for the poor dog in question as the person had waffled on about mating it but would have to get some weight on it as it wouldn't eat at all which was why it was so terribly thin & as she made this statement a lady next to us got a dish of turkey for her her dog & this poor skinny little mites eyes bulged, it lurched forward & grabbed the biggest mouthful of Turkey i have ever seen & didn't even chew it just swallowed it whole, the poor thing was ravenous.
I happened to say "well i dont know about her NOT eating but she just snatched that quick enough" & that is when all hell broke loose.
The person in question then ranted & raved that they were a vegetarian & would not compromise their beleifs & their dogs would never be fed meat over their dead body, they were fed vegetables & who the hell did i think i was to say their dog was hungry blah blah blah.
I respect anyones beleif's BUT why inflict it on your dog? A dog has to have protein amongst other things & this poor wee mite was like a hat rack, NO WAY could she rear a litter, i hate to think what the pups would look like. I think if you had of put a dish of good food in front of her it would have been gone in a second.
Apologies to anyone if i am speaking out of turn BUT it was upsetting to see a dog so thin & be told it just wouldn't eat, then see it snatch food like it had never been fed & just gollop it whole nearly choking

all the misguided fool needs is to examine her dogs teeth, then her own! man is an omnivore, meaning adapted to eat meat and plants. hence our flat molars, for grinding down fibrous vegetive material. carnivores have dagger like teeth, for tearing (w00t)nina said:reminds of of a scene from the film shirley valentine  shouldnt laugh, really :b but in that film shes looking after her neighbours basset hound? and couldnt help but give it the steak she was supposed to cook for her husband. there is nothing unnatural about dogs eating meat  its the way they evolved, they are born predators! if this 'caring' person didnt want to violate her principals, she should feed her dog complete dry food! there is no way a malnourished, starved bitch would cope with a pregnancyif she even took, it would harm her, and never mind the demands of nursing a litter!
Exactly right! We all feed our dogs differently, some may choose fresh meats, some complete diets, whatever suits you & your dogs needs i certainly would not knock anyone's feeding regime, if it works for you & your dogs, great.
Also i know there are picky, faddy eaters that are difficult to put weight on & these can be a nightmare, BUT...........to see a dog where by you can count every bone in its body, be told it just wont eat anything, everything has been tried, then see it snatch food like that, something just doesn't ring true.
Then when you receive a barrage of abuse & nonsense about dogs being vegetarians & see this poor mite dragged off still frantically trying to scrabble back for another mouthful of food, i'm afraid alarm bells start ringing.
I think the words "eccentric, totally OTT & not the full ticket" spring to mind (w00t)
Okay - it's not who I thought it might be - that's scary! At least the one I know WILL feed them meat, but it has to be in things like sausage rolls, or something that she can't smell if she has to deal with it. And she does feed kibble which contains meat, so at least it's not soooo bad. And if I'd handed her dogs turkey she'd let them have it.nina said:

Scary stuff
The bizarre thing is that on the raw feeding lists I'm on there are a LOT of vegetarians who feed their dogs raw. They know that's a natural diet for the dog so they suck it up for the dogs' sake, while still following a veggie regime for themselves.
