Okay - it's not who I thought it might be - that's scary!  At least the one I know WILL feed them meat, but it has to be in things like sausage rolls, or something that she can't smell if she has to deal with it.  And she does feed kibble which contains meat, so at least it's not soooo bad.  And if I'd handed her dogs turkey she'd let them have it.

Now that is scary if there are two of them out there. I am pretty sure you do know the person that is being referred to here Wendy.

okay - back to my original thought then. But she feeds her sausage rolls if it is - so how is turkey different from a sausage roll!

God, I hope dont meet this person  How is she going to wean the puppies. If you see her again I think you should have collective strong words with her about her dog, its obviously being mistreated. To be a veggie yourself is one thing but thats too much if its trying to eat meat, poor little mite. Maybe a call to the RSPCA may help.

I'm pretty sure you will know this person too Karen. This is not the first of their dogs to look like something out of Belsen. I did not see the incident with the turkey, if I had I would probably have had a 'chat' because, for my sins, this person seems to like me!!! I doubt that it would do any good because they are as mad as a box of frogs anyway!!!

Glad you said that , and not me :- "

From a different perspective - I don't eat meat, but my dog has tripe and Arden Grange and my cat has meat too. They eat what I have found with trial and error, that they look best on. Zephyr was a typical faddy youngster who only liked food he had tried 3 or 4 times, then he would get bored and stop eating. That is until I realised that TRIPE would make him eat every day, no problem!!

Having said that, before I stopped eating meat, I had a rescued GSD X, who had appalling diarrheoa for which we tried many different diets, until my vet suggested he might be allergic to red meat and to try Happidog which was completely vegetarian. All his tummy problems stopped immediately and his coat looked fabulous and he was in super condition again! :)) However, I think his case was unusual, and in general dogs (who are actually omnivores with a particular preference for meat) and cats (who are obligate carnivores and actually must eat a very high proportion of meat to be healthy) do better with a meat rich diet.

And my children don't eat meat - I looked into it carefully when I had them and discussed it with my health visitor and she said as long as they had protein in other forms they would be fine - so they have fish, quorn, beans etc as well as loads of fruit, veg and carbs, and I can tell you they are in good health and extremely fit and active! :huggles:
