Hello.

I am the proud new owner of an absolutely adorable whippet puppy. We collected her on Sunday and after her vets visit on monday she seems to be settling in really well. The only thing I am a bit worried about is that she seems to sleep all the time and eat very little. I think its probably just that she is only a baby at 8 weeks old but she literally only gets up to go outside and then she wants to be straight back on the sofa to have a cuddle and sleep again. Should I be worried at all or is that perfectly normal for a whippet baby ??

Congratulations on an excellent choice of dog :D

As long as she is having sometimes when she is lively I wouldn't be too worried about her . She is only a baby and should eat little and often .

The cuddling up to you may be as much to do with the fact that the weather is so cold just now than anything else . Whippets do feel the cold and being so young will feel it even more .

Oh she is so so pretty, she has that look that says , make the most of the quiet time!!!!!

Aww shes beautiful and a picture of health

What a beautiful girl and a lovely name too, Angel

She looks fine to me and sleeping alot is perfectly normal. Feed at least 4 small meals a day, 5 if poss at 8 weeks old, and keep her warm :D

........ with the weather like it is, mine are sleeping alot now and they don't normally stop at all  ........wish I could sleep too!!!

Thanks everyone. I think she is a little superstar but then I am a little biased :D

I am just leaving her dry puppy food down all the time so she can help herself whenever she likes. She does pick at it but seems to eat very little. I am going to try her with a little tripe tomorrow and see how that goes ;)

She is gorgeous    o:)

And a great choice of name I too have an Angel but be warned calling a whippet Angel means they are the devil in disguise. My Angel should have been called Menace or Demon (w00t)

Thankyou ;)

I have started giving her tripe or cooked chicken in her food twice a day also and she goes absolutely potty over it so I'm not worried about her appetite now, more my fingers :D

She has also become a lot more lively and cheeky the last few days, bless her. She still spends most of her time asleep but is a complete hooligan when she is awake and keeps us all thoroughly amused :D Perhaps Angel is a name to be avoided :D ;) :D

Lovely name,my little Welsh Mountain pony was also called Angel for short in the stable yard.

Aww Angel is such a beautiful girl  :huggles:
