The weather wasn't very good on the first day so we didn't do much - dogs don't seem to mind though! Spot the whippets -_-

That looks like my kind of holiday :D Fab pics ! Love those A4 Pacifics ... the Sir Nigel Gresley, Mallard ... form and function in perfect harmony (bit like a whippet lol)

Where were you staying ?

You can see the different expressions of Jonah and Muffin on the trains, one looks quite content, one looks tense. Isn't it odd how one doesn't mind it and one does. Maybe it's an age thing.

I like all the photos of the steam trains. :)

My husband's a big A4 fan. You could feel and hear the power as it steamed past us after coming out of the tunnel (going faster than it should've been too! :- ) .The other engines just couldn't compare.

We were staying at a holiday park (not our usual sort of holiday but it was OK for a few days!) just north of Filey. Lovely location and only a few minutes from the coastal path.

do your holidays always involve trains

I am in love with those hunks

Quite often! ;) Although we don't go so far as to choose holiday locations based on the proximity of preserved railway lines! :p

I know Trish - I keep expecting him to go grey too! He's older than Finley as well, isn't he - same age as Kiplin. :)

Lovely pictures, especially the B/W ones, they could have been taken when the trains were new. Very atmospheric.

We go up to Whitby every other year or so, it's lovely up on that coast. Last time we stayed in a static like the one you had, it was right on the edge of the cliff opposite the Abbey. One night it was so windy we couldn't open the door from inside as the wind was forcing it shut, it was a bit scary being so close to the edge. I had visions of being blown into the sea
