Over the weekend - Kobi has had slight dioareah and yesterday and today had slight spots of blood in his faeces. Should I make a vets appointment - I am a bit worried.

He is still active, drinking and eating. Will it probably be something he has eaten ??

I expect he's just ruptured a little blood vessel through straining ...........Starve him for 24 hours, then give him something bland to eat for a few meals (cooked fish, chicken, scrambled egg etc....) and see how he goes .......once his tummy has settled down, then the spotting should stop ........If it dosn't, or he becomes quiet or depressed, then take him to the vet straight away ...........Keep his water intake up as little pup's dehydrate very quickly (if hes not drinking then syring it down him)........Hope little Kobi's better soon :huggles:

i had been told by my vet that worms can sometimes cause spotting ?????

is he due for worming ?? fingers crossed im sure he will be fine good luck :luck:

I have just wormed him this week - Panacure granules - and yes he did have some worms.

Im keeping a close eye on him, thanks for the advice. :thumbsup:

its when i got my pup she had terrible worms , took me weeks to clear her ,, i noticed spots of blood and thats when my vet said it was prob due to worms ,, fingers crossed its just that :luck:

Sounds a bit like a touch of Colitus. Give some live yoghurt or pro-biotics. Wouldnt rush to the vets just yet

Has it happened more than once? I've had this happen with Angus once and it never happened again.

Perhaps collecting a sample(for the vet) wouldn't hurt...not to worry you but he is quite young and bloody diarrhea can be a symptom of parvovirus - but he would probably be showing other major symptoms.

I would monitor him closely and if it continues, it can't hurt (more than your wallet anyways) to go to the vet's.

Thanks everyone - hes ok in himself - bouncy and eating - but as I said he was wormy (w00t) but Im sure Ive rid him of those and he seems to be putting a bit of weight on now - Ive spotted it about 3 times - but its since his bout of skits about 4 days ago. ) Im keeping an eye and maytake a sample to the vets Tues/Wed if I see it again. As you can see it didnt stop him on his walk today - or chasing the cat.

when i had my pup she had a real bad tummy (breeder hadnt wormed her properly) so it took ages to sort her out ,, she had the squits with blood for 2 weeks , all to do with worms so fingers crossed now little critters gone he should soon be on mend ! my vet advised worming every 2 weeks untill no worms ???? i did and it worked , not sure on other peoples views on worming ? i do them every 3 months now

Yes I usually worm mine 3-6 monthly :thumbsup: and Frontline every 3-4 months for the flea job too.

I was hoping it was the wormy thing - hopefully nothing more :thumbsup:

I agree with Hannah - he's probably burst a little blood vessel - this can be quite common if they have been straining a lot or doing lots of poos. It should only happen a couple of times though Janis, and should only be little bits of blood. Anymore than that and I'd be popping off to the vet.

Jill - his poos are solid today ....and no sign of blood :thumbsup: :thumbsup: so think it probably was a burst blood vessel thank goodness. :sweating:
