poor Sparkey :( hope he is feeling better today, if he seems upset by this get some rescue remedy into him, arnica tablets will also help heal

Oh Jenny that's awful - what a frightening way to start your christmas day! Big :huggles: to Sparks from all of us here. I hope he doesn't suffer too much mentally from this attack. Let's know what the vet says about the wounds.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Poor Sparky. :(

I think that any dog like this JRT should never let off lead in public. If the owner can't manage the dog, she should not keep this dog.

I hope Sparky gets better soon. :huggles:

Just caught up with this Jenny, Im so sorry about what happened to Sparky. What an aweful thing to happen to you all on Christmas Day :( I do hope Sparky recovers and is not affected too badly by his ordeal and you and your family too.

Hugs and cuddles to Sparky :huggles: and for you and family too. :huggles: Get Well Very soon Sparky. :luck: :luck: :luck:

Your story bacomes my worst nightmare. I had a similar incident some months back with a b****y JRT who came at one of my lurchers from out of no where. Not causing the same amount of damage as your boy had to endure but enough to make me damned annoyed. I'm afraid , I trust no strange dogs and have become more protective of mine, particularly my beloved whippets. Good luck to you.

How is he today Jenny? Hope he's better.

I'm really not a fan of them either - but there is a breeder down here who breeds for working AND for showing and hers are absolutely SMASHING! Rock solid temperaments, no nonsense and if I were ever mad enough to want a BUSY breed like that I'd go to her.

Shame you don't live closer as I'm sure she'd agree to let Sparky have a friendly meeting with hers so he isn't scared.

Hope all is well.

Wendy

Thank you all for your kind messages following yesterday. Sparky was checked out earlier today and he is ok. He is very battered and bruised but doing well. He actually had more bite marks than we first thought but is a lovely dog and is just getting on with it. One of the bite marks was on his testacle so he must have been in terrible pain. He hasn't eaten very much since yesterday but as the day has gone on today he has become much more playful, he has finished opening his presents and is curled up asleep with his fluffy pink poodle.

I fell asleep earlier in the chair and woke up to something tickling my ear, he had spied his chance and pinched some more tinsel but like he always does when he pinches anything he brings it to show you.

It's very unusual for anyone to come with me when I take him for a walk, but yesterday Peter decided to come and I'm so glad he did.

Thank you all once again for your kind thoughts and advice regarding treatment you are lovely people.

Jenny

ouch! its a wonder he didnt fight back, that is extreme provocation! glad the poor fella is alright. :huggles: :huggles:

Poor Sparky!

Hope he's feeling a bit better today

I would definitely agree about socialising him with friendly JRTs if you can- Alfie was attacked on 2 separate occasions by GSDs while doing down stays in obedience competitions. Though it surprisingly didn't put him off doing down stays, it certainly put him off GSDs for life!

Give him a hug from us.

How awful. Dog fights are horrible and scary :(

Hope Sparky feels better soon. :luck:

i bet poor sparky is feeling sore and bruised today.poor little lamb. :( give him a gentle cuddle and a love from me

Oh I'm so sorry that Sparky and you all had your Christmas ruined. I really hope he is recovered and razzing around very soon.

As for the JRT - even giving it the benefit of the doubt as a rescue.....it needs some help. You had no choice but to kick it to get it off, and I would have done the same thing, but that pattern will probably make its behaviour worse next time it sees another dog... The owner needs to keep it on a lead and get some proper advice from the rescue centre if he/she wants to have a better life with it - or it needs to go to someone who knows what they are doing with terriers. I'm not a JRT fan either :(

Lots of whippy and lurchery kisses to Sparkey :huggles:
