Ive always said the same ...Fleesh said:I hope someone will use OB2 at stud, he was a hell of a bend dog and his sisters Sing for Us and Megasaurus were always impressive on the straights  .
I personally applaud anyone that takes the gamble and uses something different, and in your circumstance keeping that Gillette line going in my personal opinion is a great move  I wasn't quite as lucky as Vicky as the first Gillette litter (minefallenangel said:I had a few comments when we lined lacey like if youed gone to a proven stud or this dog or that dog we would have wanted a pup. to be honist I did care who wanted a pup they could all have stayed here quiet happily for me and can come back any time. But I could see why it would put peoepl off and make them feel they might be left with a hole litter nobody wants. But at the end of the day if you have a good dog and good bitch there will be homes out there for them. I could have homed this lot 5 times over easly. I allso know I have good backup from the stud dogs owner who is as protective over the pups as I am as its her dogs first litter aswell. Its personal choice but It would be nice to know whos willing to let you use there dog even if its only for selective breeding
I really do hope Gold Run can mate bitches in the future, we tried him with both Moany Moany first and then Connor's Lass to no avail. Hopefully with the advice from their very good friends Jackie and Colin will have him firing them out ( :b ) and as you know Jackie we'd be back in a flashrobpoole said:IN GREYHOUND CIRCLES ITS BECOME INCREASINGLY POPULAR TO USE DIFFERENT AMERICAN AND AUSTRALIAN SIRES FROM SANDMAN TO THE ALL CONQUERING TOP HONCHO BASICALLY TO PUY NEW BLOOD IN THE BREED.BUT TOP BREEDERS STILL THINK ITS 75 PER CENT THE BITCH AND STILL TRY TO COMPLIMENT THERE SHORTCOMINGS.ITS THE SAME WITH WHIPPETS YOU MUST BREED IN THE BITCHES WEAKNESS.FOR RXAMPLE FOR BRUTE EARLY PACE BIGLAND BOY WOULD TAKE A LOT OF BEATING.GOLD RUN IS ANOTHER WITH A BIG FUTURE AND IM LED TO BELIEVE KEELEY AND TAM ARE CONSIDERING USING HIM WITH WHAT NOW.JEFF STEVENS WHO PUTS A GREAT DEAL OF THOUGHT AND RESEARCH INTO BREEDING IS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THIS LINE.IFEEL BOTH MAJOR POINT AND EVERSLEY LAD WILL PUT IN VERSITILITY AND CONSISTENCY.HELLS BELLS IS ALSO A SIRE I THINK IS VASTLY UNDERATED,THE TOP SIRE IN 5 YEARS TIME WILL BE FAT BOY SLIM WHAT BLOODLINES.
Look at the bloodlines your two out of this mating have though (w00t) Fantastic. I personally think you'd get good pups from both and would love to see what Fudge or Jimmy would throw regardless of whether they're both open class or not.Ditto said:I personally applaud anyone that takes the gamble and uses something different, and in your circumstance keeping that Gillette line going in my personal opinion is a great move  I wasn't quite as lucky as Vicky as the first Gillette litter (mine) havent proved to be halfway as good as Vicky's its the gamble you take some click and throw good pups some don't this is why i don't mind trying different dogs - so much luck is needed in breeding and its a chance you take whichever dog you choose whether they click and the offspring are good.
:luck:
Stop reading minds woman it's getting very un-nerving !!! (w00t)Vicky said:Look at the bloodlines your two out of this mating have though (w00t) Fantastic. I always thought he'd get used more than he has - it's a real shame.jackie thubron said:What about Midnight Run? if I remember he never had an easy race. Every title he won he had to work for racing against some cracking dogs ie Mad mick Colorado ob2 The builder Oscars pride ect ect, He would run for fun on the bends and was a good straight dog as well.
Only a thought.
Jacqui get him on the dog feature pagehere!jackie thubron said:Midnight Run ran at 27lb so not that big when you look at the dogs sizes now there where loads of scratch dogs this year at the champs. And yes he was the only one running out of his litter but two of the litter went to pet homes and whats to say that he will throw big dogs look at just friends he's only 19lb and some of his pups are quite big.
I was always shocked nobody wanted to use him, a consistent top class performer in both disciplines (but especially bends where he seemed to be able to run flat out from box to line). We spoke about him when we brought Connor's Lass up for Danny, but you know my reasons for not using him from the perspective of my own blood lines  .jackie thubron said:Midnight Run ran at 27lb so not that big when you look at the dogs sizes now there where loads of scratch dogs this year at the champs.
