   at the moment i am absoulutelyy fuming, went to pick lee up from school this afternoon,& there was this chav women in the school grounds with her dog that was a cross between a rottie & lab with a muzzle on, every time some one walked passed this dog went mad barking & trying to get to people, a couple of parents complained and were met with a mouth of filth , she certainly knew how to use the f word, any way she came and stood right outside the gate as lee came out this dog went for him, lee is 11 & tall for his age about 5ft 1 inch, this dog when it jumped was face to face with lee's head, luckily no damage was done except he was extremly shocked & ran on the road lucky no car was coming,i went to complain to the school & there was already a other parent complaing who had a mouthful off this women, the headteacher said as it had happened off the school premises there was nothing she could do, while i was in the school this women was laughing saying nothing they can do, i have a licence for the dog? l dont know what type of licence she could have???, people were saying how vicious it sounded & that there was obviously a reason it had a muzzle on, i have found out where this women lives but dont know if there is anything i can do about this, sorry to go it has really shook us up.

What a stupid individual she sounds   and I'm sure her kids will turn out a treat  I would report it to someone(not sure who but someone will) and tell them it is vicious and aggressive and caused your son to run on to a road to get out of arms way :(

I hope you both get over this terrible experience quickly :huggles:

I bet its the same dog that a fella tryed to set on my whippets up town last week. looka like an under fed rottie Hes done it twice to me now and his girlfrnds done it once. they shouve it towards woman kids and other dogs and think its fun. Please report it to the dog warden. I should be pleased at least its muzzled now so I bet if its the same dog they listen to my complant about them.

Hope your feeling carmer soon gits like that put all dog owners in a bad light

I would do what wendy said talk to the dog warden or even the police as it sould like the dog was out of control. Even if it was on a lead.

good luck and i hope lee is ok.

If you who she is and where she lives report her to the dog warden and the police.

If other parents were also upset by this, maybe you could get a letter or pertition together about this dog and hand it into the dog warden.

Even though it was off the school premises, the head teacher and his/her staff have a responsiblity to the children until they are collected/met by their parents and can request that all dogs are to be kept away from the school grounds, including the gate/fenced area outside the grounds.

It happened at my daughter old school, so I know it can be done.

They even got the police involved in it...

These people make my blood boil.

if it happens again dial 999 and tell the cops a rottie is trying to attack kids at the school, in the current climate they will be there in a flash! i hope ur lad is ok hun :huggles:

sadly if the dog is muzzled AND on a lead it is legally deemed as under control and the dog warden and police cannot actually do anything.

im sure that under the dangerous dogs act a dog only has to create the fear of beening attacked to be classed as dangerous, i might be wrong but thats how i understand it.

just looked up the defra site it said

may specify the measures to be taken for keeping the dog under proper contol, wheather by muzzling, keeping on lead or excluding it from specified places.

hope this help abit.

if a dog causes a person to feel fear it can technically be removed and destroyed but the act also states that a muzzled dog on lezd with owner is regarded as legally uinder control.

and there should be laws against people like me who cannot spell on Mondayz

That's my understanding as well ... a dog does not necessarily have to attack, you just have to fear an attack.

The dog may have been on a lead, but it does not sound as though it was under control.

Please report this to the dog warden.

I can't believe how irresponsible some dog-owners are (well, yes actually, I can believe it). Wouldn't you think in the current climate that people would pay extra care to how their dog's behaviour is seen, make sure their dog has good manners etc?

And what flipping dog licence does the stupid woman claim to have?? silly mare.

thanks for all the kind words, i am reporting it tomorrow to the dog warden, i have a feeling the women will come back again as she seemed to get a kick out of all the fuss

What a dreadful experience for you and your son :(

This person wants reporting,Definitely.

fancy taking a dog like this to the school grounds ..... some people have no sense at all.

Once again.... not probably the dogs fault, but a stupid irresonsible owner by the sounds of it.

The above is spot on, I would also add that under a school's duty of care they really ought to ensure that a child is not frightened of entering or exiting the school premises, I would have thought if half a dozen parents turn up at the head teacher's office and say their children are too scared to come to school because of the vicious dog waiting outside then they just can't ignore it. Well they can, but it would be very unwise of them to do so.

Let us know how this progresses.

Jenny

if the school wont do anything why not try the press or the education authority saying you will withhold your child from school as his safety when entering school grounds is compromised??? worth a try? also dog warden and police as the dog is acting in a threatening and aggressive manner so does come under the law

stood right outside the gate as lee came out this dog went for him, lee is 11 & tall for his age about 5ft 1 inch, this dog when it jumped was face to face with lee's head, luckily no damage was done except he was extremly shocked & ran on the road lucky no car was coming,

Lead or not this does not sound as being "under control". Hope you get something done about this idiot of a woman.

Hi Trac,

I am a General Inspector with Council, which includes Dog & Cat Management.

This owner & dog are commiting an offence even though the dog is on a lead and muzzled it is not under 'effective"control and has harassed your son, I would issue a $210.00 fine for the offence under the Dog & Cat Magagement Act 1995 which states Attack, "harass" or chase a person. animal or bird.

I would be making a formal complaint, in writing to the Council, I would also take a camera with me to school and discreetly photograph the dogs actions to include with the complaint.

Hope this helps,

Native.

I don't know if you are aware but most schools do not let dogs onto the school premises, however well they behave. This does not, however, prevent somebody from standing with their dog outside the school gate. Maybe you should speak to the school.

what a horrible thing to happen,i would report it,some folk think they can get away with anything, horrible people there nothing but scum.

glad lee wasnt hurt and hope he gets over the trauma fast
