I am thinking of getting a pup next spring, i have been spending a lot of time thinking about it, and the only glitch i can find is that the pup (after spending a week at home with me) may have to come work with me one day a week- 8.30 til 6.30!

But i work at the vets so there is a bed under the desk for a dog!- as sometimes other staff bring their dogs in. And i would have time to feed & let him out for pee's, there would be someone always sitting on desk either myself or one of the 3 other staff to keep him company.

Just wanted to see what you all thought of that? :- "

I also think it would be a good chance to socialise him, his bed would be under the desk- he wouldnt be able to see the waiting room but could be brought out and about when theres a nice dog to play with!

:D

Hi Maggy

I have two lurchers and they both come to work with me , all day, every day. They love it and get loads of fuss and attention and I can walk them at lunchtime and coffee breaks. I can honestly say they enjoy being there FAR more than I do lol.

Hi Maggy,

I used to take mine to work at the vets so did the other nurses, it worked fine for us, we walked them together in the lunch hour, i'm sure he/she would rather be with you there, than at home on there own. :D

hello

i used to work at my local vets and staff were always allowed to bring doggies to work. (i did not have my lovely girl then x)

they had a lovely time as so many people were passing through the surgery to make a fuss of them - the only drawback was in the summer when the doors had to be left open, the dogs had to be tied up as we were based close to a busy road. Also very difficult on the 2 occasions that we had pups in with Parvo - they were treated with barrier nursing but the thought was always there :(

luckily now i have my own shop and Talulla has become my much admired shop assistant - photos to follow soon!

good luck with pup :))

Thanks for the replies! Isuppose if i was to take him to work then im working at the best place really! Just have to make sure the boss/vet is okay with it

Up till a year ago I worked at a residential home for the elderly and my 2 girls (before we had Teya) used to come with me at least once a week. The residents LOVED it and knew what day they came and would flock to the door to say hello. It was great for the dogs AND the residents.

Hi Maggymills, Im sure your dog would really enjoy coming to work with you.

The only job Ive had where I could take my old dog Chip was in a local Forest (the Gift Shop) he stayed behind the counter with me and was an attraction for all the kids that came in too, he was as good as gold and loved the lunchtime forest walks.

Couldnt take my dogs now though as I work on a farm

Can't bring Byron and Macey into the office, though there is always a constant demand from work mates!!! (w00t)

Used to take my dob to the Post Office I had. He was so good and the centre of attention with the childrens. Miss having a dog at my feet :(

But if your boss is ok about and so is the rest of the office/shop etc then enjoy!! :*

lucky you!

I'd love to take mine to work - could you imagine it, 2 whips and 2 iggies running around a tesco superstore! (w00t)

I do take Sky to work with me on occation at the weekend . the tenants love to see him . He has a great time playing frizzbe and that he gets me all to himself

Hello. Im new here, but was wondering if any one could give me advise on a puppy i brought today. (i already have a border collie) but i cant remember what i did with him. The problem looks like she is going to be yapping all night, does anyone have any tips, she is sleeping with my other dog, i know she would be missing her mum and the other dogs(the lady had about 15 other dogs all running about!) but does anyone know of anything that would calm her down?. Thanks for your help :D

I understand you have a dog already, but perhaps your new pup doesn't speak 'collie'

There are loads of people on here who give good advise, so all I'll do is to say hello, congrats on new pup, and to wish you luck :luck:

Thanks, hopefully some one will be able to help :))

my puppies mum is a whippetxcollie and the dad is a deerhoundxgreyhound(in case anyone is interested!).

I like the bit where you say you had a border collie but you cant remember what you did with him - (w00t) did you lose him chortle, :- "

When we had Tilly we put her in the kitchen and she cried for about 3 nights :( , then we got a cage for her (as she ate the lino  ) and she cried again for about 3 nights... :(

All i did was same time each night take her out for a wee, tell her this, ie Tilly wee :b , then i brought her in and said, Tilly bed and put her in her cage, i told her to lie down, that she was a good girl and said goodnight. Do this everynight and your pup will be fine...... :D

Oh and you might want to tell the neighbours that she will cry for a bit :- "

Had a right giggle at that too

I wish I could but as I work in a school dining room I don't think it would go down too well 3 whippets going round nicking the kids food (w00t)
