i know tank has a few fans on here so i thought you should all know what happened-when we let tank out tonight he jumped out the front door and straight over the steps onto the slabs and he has badly broken hs front right leg just above the wrist,it is a bad break in a bad position and the lower part of his leg was twisted and pushed upwards,we took him straight to the vet who injected him with a pain killer and a seditive but he is still in a lot of pain and they wont x-ray him until monday as this is the soonest they can operate and they dont want to sedate him to x-ray him and then have to do it again to operate on him,so we wont really know until monday how bad it is or what can be done but the vet has said a plaster is not any good and it is going to need surgery and pins inserted at least,so all we can do is cross our fingers that he will be ok.cheers dougie & liz.

HI WE HAVE A WHIPPET CALLED PUZZLE, WHO HAS BROKEN BOTH FRONT LEGS.... THE LAST TIME WAS AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY 2004 - HE HAD TO HAVE THIS LEG RE-BROKEN AND EXTERNALLY PINNED - THE PINS DID NOT COME OUT UNTIL A WEEK OR SO BEFORE CHRISTMAS 2004... A VERY LONG JOB..... WE HAD MANY SLEEPLESS NIGHTS, LOTS OF TLC.... HOW DO YOU KEEP A WHIPPET QUIET????? WHEN HE WANTS TO CHASE ONE OF THE LOCAL CATS! I KNOW HOW HARD IT WAS FOR US, SO WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST OF LUCK... HOPE TANKS OP WENT WELL... POOR LITTLE LAMB!

tank had broke the radius bone in his leg, he gos back to the vet in the morning he has to get more jags and a check of his plaster i will try and get a copy of his x-rays as we would like to see the damage to his leg,  he got a plate and pins in his leg and is much better today thank you all for your kind words  and we will keep yous posted on his progress

Having been through all of this recently, I know exactly how you must be feeling. So glad that the op went well for Tank  You now have the joyful task of keeping him quiet (w00t) We are just getting to the stage were Ollie is having much more exercise (lead) and he's really sound on his leg as I am sure Tank will be soon too.

My vets were great about letting me take away the xrays as I wanted to show them to a couple of people, and they were really useful. I tried scanning, photocopying and taking a pic with them held in front of a light as I really wanted to be able to post them on here, but nothing worked :( Still at least we were able to really look at them instead of the quick run through you would normally get at the vets. I hope you are able to get a copy especially if like us you have more done a few weeks down the line. It was lovely to see the fused bone after the pins and wire were taken out.

Best of luck over the next few weeks, we'll really be thinking of you and Tank

Tracy

hi thats tank just back from the vets he got a jag for painrelief and one for antibiotics , he starts antibiotics tomorrow and also has metacam to take , he gos back to the vets on friday afernoon to get his dressing changed he is doing very well , we got his x-ray it is a clean break and the vet says it will heal with no problems so we are over the moon he is going to be ok :D , the only problem is he thinks he can still charge about (w00t) so he is being wrapped up in cottonwool and he is not best pleased about that , he is sending everyone hugs and kissies and says thank you all for caring about him :huggles: .

:D Great news Liz :D

It will be hard going to keep the wee man quiet, but you will cope no bother

i got home from work at 8pm and what did the wee bugger do?? only tried to jump up on me-you cant keep a good dog down!!!,he doesnt like being put on the easy list thats for sure,he goig to go stir crazy!!.

Get well soon Tank - sure he'll heal as good as new!!! :luck:

So pleased everything went well :huggles: speedy recovery tank :huggles:

I have only just seen this as I have had so little time on k9 lately. Poor Tank! but good to hear the op went well. It will be a devil of a job keeping him quiet and very frustrating but sending you lots of calming vibes to get you through it and here's hoping all comes good at the end! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Poor Tank. Glad the op went well and he is feeling more like his old self. Leia shattered her leg last year and although it took ages to heal as she had complications she made a really good recovery. No reason why Tank wont be 100%. Just keep an eye on it as it can be a while between appointments.

:luck: to Tank.
