Thank you, a friend suggested a couple (Buddy and Cooper). We are unsure as will be selecting the pup in a couple of weeks.

We chose the name of our pup and the breeder started training her what her name was, went I went to collect her the breeder called her by her name and she came running

I read that as the friend suggesting a couple of names, not a couple of pups.

@The Smifs , a good test is thinking what names you'd be happy shouting across a park.

For example when I have to call for my dog, Timber, in the woods; people suddenly look rather anxious.

One of the dogs I used to walk was called 'Pork Chops' (he was a springer), I didn't fancy calling 'Porky' across the park incase anyone took offence so used to call him 'Chops' instead!

Thank you for the kind advice, it was just a couple of name ideas, definitely only getting one as you say two Beagles is too much for us to give a fair start to.

Hi, that's excellent. No not decided yet but we are going to see them in 3 weeks time when they will be 6 weeks old. Probably get a boy if available.

Children of the 70s (like us two) remember The Banana Splits and if we got a beagle pup we would name him Fleegle.

Blimey that takes me back a bit, I hope it doesn't get as big as Fleegle.

When we adopted Mabel she was of a sizeable volume, quite overweight for a whippet, in excess of 19kg. When we sent pictures of her to a friend the response was “What a porker”. As a token of endearment I have called her “Porker”. However once on a walk a lady of size glanced at me when I used the expression in complete innocence. Also in complete innocence I hastened to explain that I was talking to my dog. With the benefit of hindsight I don’t think I made the issue any better. She is now “Mabel” whenever we’re outside.
