HE'S ONLY GONE AND DONE IT! I'm sooo proud!
This time last year, I took in a thin, flighty and nervous lurcher. He was covered in scars and had never lived in a house prior to being fostered. His front teeth were missing, he was scared of the dark, wind, men, sudden movement, being picked up, being left alone plus many other fears, it was tragic that such a young dog should find life so stressful he was only 2 to 3 years old at the most. But despite all this and having no training he settled in quickly and began to get the hang of being loved and cared for.
The first time I took him to a training class he was petrified . We persevered but he was so unhappy I undertook training at home. But we live rurally and he needed opportunity to meet other dogs so this summer we started classes again and this time he LOVED it - his focus was amazing. Anyway, this Sunday saw us attempt the Bronze level KC Good Citizenship test. He passed with flying colours, I'm so proud as he's come so far in the last year. He is now a confident and happy dog who I hope has put his past behind him once and for all. We can now start agility classes as his level of obedience is sufficient to cope with being offlead around other dogs. Something I would have struggled to believe possible as little as three months ago. Silver level, here we come! Well done Captain Fantastic!
