No advent calenders for the dogs the treats inside are normally too commercial for them. Normally I do buy one for myself just another little Christmassy thing to brighten the days but I forgot this year.
But OH who has always treated Christmas like the grinch has decided he loves the idea.. He is making plans for making Pate and meatloaf, decorating his man cave and buying gifts... I think the fairys swapped him in the night but Im not complaining!

Not dog related at all but I would like to hibernate over December, I lost my wife in December so it is a horrible month all round. If I couldn't sleep through it, I just want to carry on as normal but I am not allowed to. Any way moan over.

@Biker John , I'm so sorry :-( I do hope your family can start to appreciate that you should be able to 'do' Xmas your way, even if that involves not doing Xmas at all.

Thanks all, it's been 14 years but its strange, in one way it feels like the day before yesterday, yet in another it feels like half a lifetime. I guess me being quite shy and not liking meeting people does not help. How the heck I managed to meet and marry such a wonderful person I will never know. Most of the year I just get on with life but December is horrible.

Really sorry to hear this. My very good friend lost her husband on Christmas eve and his cremation was on New years eve it will be 11 years this year and only now has she had the courage to try plan a festive meal. Since he died December has been a month of sadness and nausea for her as the event gets closer and while all around excitment builds her dread and actual feeling of nausea grows.
Its so easy for the rest of us to forget that even the horrible things like illness and death carry on during Christmas it must make it so much harder for those like yourself who have this extra burden to bear. Take care..

Just ordered our xmas day food via Mark's and sparks ..so easy ..just need to buy veg now and that's it ....

Just a note about fruit and veg... Dutch farmers are unhappy about new nitrogen emissions rules which they feel are unfair to farmers. So far their acions have been confined to blocking motorways but with the slogan , No farmers= no food they plan to block food distribution centers before the Christmas holidays which could lead to some shortages of fruit and veg imports..

We buy most of our veg from a local farmshop where they grow mostof their own seasonal produce

Our walk this morning was curtailed by something very scary, less than 100m from home... Jasper had to stand and stare at it for about 5 minutes before he would move. And even then, rather than taking an alternative route to avoid the scary sight - the route he'd normally take anyway - he was so thrown that he decided we should go home and play in the garden instead.

The scary sight.....

Bollards!

Normally he chooses to go up the steps and to the park but that wasn't happening either. It's possible the lighting was a factor as well as the sign & bollards.
