Sorry to nick your title Gillian :p

The boys and I spent the Bank Holiday at my friends' place in the New Forest (I grew up very close to the New Forest).

I took a few pics. Here are some of them:

Pitching tent in their field :x ....(green with envy :p ):

The view down the field early the next morning, as the sun came over the trees and lit up the dew on the grass...

Georgie the Great Dane came round regularly to inspect...

Long walks on the common were enjoyed by all...it was great to try and capture Georgie in flight...

I was allowed to stay in the house but I opted to camp instead, so I could relax more with the dogs (weren't allowed in the bedrooms :p ). It was a fab weekend.

I might have guessed that Stan would be standing in a muddy puddle!! :clown:  And Fred all snug in his tent. :- " Glad you had a good time, Nicola. Lovely pics.

Looks like you had a good weekend Nicola, I love Georgie  there are 2 Great Danes living down the road from us. Of course Molly and Lenny are petrified of them, being the wimps that they are

I thought Fred and Stan would be terrified too. :sweating: My friends have had a succession of rescue Great Danes (a heart breaking breed!) and some they've got on with, some they haven't. Not too many problems with Geoffrey (huge black male (w00t) ) and they were both fine with Georgie. We introduced them outside on the common which helped. The only problem is Danes love to play and swipe their opponents with a huge paw and barge into them sideway. Fred wasn't soo keen on this bit, and stayed in the tent. Stan learned evasion tactics :p

The New Forest covers a large area and there are a number of Forestry Commission campsites. You can turn up, pay and pitch tent. Best to book in high season and Bank holidays as they get really busy then. This particular field was private adjoining my friends house. Loads of B&B's...you just need to decide which area you want to be in. Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Beaulieu, Lymington areas are always popular.

I wish I had a quarter of their garden Trish. It would be dream come true...their field is smaller than their garden. :b

It looks lovely Nicola! Glad you all had such a lovely holiday. :)
