I expect I'll get the same thing when Ella's 6 weeks runs out then??

It'll be interesting if they do try because we've got TPS (telephone preference service) on our line which is a free service BT offer which prevents unsolicited phone calls (look in the phone book under BT services)

If they do get through then they could get this treatment ...........

The three little words: "Hold on, please...", when answering a cold call from a telesales person could help put an end to this form of torture!

Saying this, putting down your phone and leaving it off the hook (instead

of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much

more time-consuming and expensive that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.

Then when you eventually hear BT's "beep-beep-beep" tone, you know

it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task!

These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.

And if that fails I'll try Keith's approach (w00t)

Just ask them if they cover racing injuries you wont see them for dust!

Suggest you get BTs---Telephone Preference Service (TSP) for those unwanted calls. It takes a couple of minutes of your time as it's an automated service. You can find the info in the front of your phone book. Or

0845 07 007 07

24 hrs a day---7 days a week

IT'S FREE

Best thing I ever did

I am a member of the TPS but I still got the Kennel Club ringing me up.

Dawn it was only the twice for Archie after his ran out....I just said Ive taken it out elsewhere and that was the end of..

Wonder why they keep on pestering you, its as if its not logged on their computer that you have said NO.

Dont be too harsh everyone, my daughter works in a local Call Centre...shes only almost 18, ...and the amount of abuse she gets from some folks..

A polite NO is all you need sometimes, it dosnt cost anything to be civil. :)

i think a simple "no thank you" is more constructive and polite

I can't understand why they kept ringing up too Janis, like i said we were polite in saying "no thankyou" we are not intrested. No more calls since Sunday,so i hope they got the drift now.I do respect folks from the call centre, but when you keep getting calls, then you start to get a bit mad (w00t) :D

We had another call from a company wanting to know all our personal details etc,i put the phone down on them :- " :D

I'm sure your daughter is very polite and freindly like youself Janis

I do apologise if my humour offends you, Masta.

Maybe, if you re-read my original post you will understand that it was 'tongue in cheek' and the words in red are not my own!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is free to voice it on this forum in an acceptable manner. I do not find it acceptable to quote another member in order to make a sarcastic comment.

And, for the record, all I did in the past, when we did get telemarketing calls, was say 'No, thanks. Please don't waste your time.'

Dawn - I'm sorry, hun, for posting this on your thread but I felt it needed to be said

Over the last few days I have been receiving calls from 0800 2585508. There has been no-one on the phone when I answered it. This afternoon I received further calls. As I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service I telephoned the above number back. It was 'Tele-Focus' - after listening to the recorded speel there was a further message which gave a number to ring if you wished to be removed from their list. [0800 2585617]

I did this and also told the person I spoke to that I was registered with TPS. She then said "Do you have any pets?". I then guessed that this was a call similar to those complained about on this thread. Yes, she said it was on behalf of the Kennel Club but she would remove my number from the list. A few minutes later the phone rang again - this time there was someone there..Yes, you've guesssed it - on behalf of the Kennel Club. I was pretty annoyed by this time so told her I was annoyed as I was reg. with TPS. [i also told her that I know of a number of people annoyed by these type of follow up calls].

However she said it wasn't a cold call as I had the free Kennel Club Insurance and she wished to give me a quote for further insurance. I told her I had received a quote by post so she had no need to ring.

I was then interested to see how persistant she would be. I let her go on for a while...Then just said I have taken insurance with someone else......her reply "Oh I see, Goodbye"

:sweating:

We've been pestered by the KC re. insurance after the six week cover expires too. They still went on ringing after I actually insured Tolly the dachshund with them. I don't think the left hand knows what the right hand is doing.

It looks as if they have given a list for the phone calling to Tele Focus - and I am sure it won't be kept up to date. Although they said it wasn't cold calling I regard it so, as obviously a lot of the calls I had were made by an automatic device as there was not usually someone at the other end.
