:( just got bk from the vets again as poppy was booked in for 10.10 as shes had a runny bum all night and our vet called us in to have chat about tia ,wen they wer doing her check up they have found a heart murmor she says its grade 1 ,2 at the moe :( they are happy to go ahead with her spaying thou as they would prefer her to have it done sooner rather than late ,to say im gutted is an understatement :(
Right Nicky, sit down with a cuppa, and do not worry. A grade 1-2 heart murmur is not a problem at all. 1-2 is not bad, and she will probably live the rest of her life without her heart giving her a problem. My Jenna had a heart murmur - not sure when it was diagnosed now, but she lived until almost 16, and it wasn't her heart that made her ill towards the end. The vet will listen to it each time you go in, and if it gets worse there's always medication, but you wouldn't believe how many dogs have heart murmurs and never have another problem with it :huggles: She will be home in no time :luck:

Just noticed this Nicky :b

I would imagine your away getting her now. I hope it all went ok.

Try not and worry about the murmer, they wouldn't have done her

Nearly all my whippets over the years have had heart murmers. Some right from the outset and others later in life. Mostly grade 1 or 2 murmers. It has never affected their quality of life and none have required medication. I think Lilly and possibly my lurcher are / were the only ones who did not. Perhaps it is my luck or perhaps heart murmers are common in whippets. Do not worry. The vets would not have operated if they had any serious concerns.

I am sure Tia is happy to be home (if a bit drowsey). Now the fun part starts, keeping her from bouncing around for a few weeks.

Give her a hug from me and do not worry about the heart murmer. The vets are obliged to let you know, it does not mean a reason for great anxiety.

good luck Tia, hope it goes smoothly (milk it for all it's worth.....like Ella did!)xxxx

Glad all went well for tia nicky :) sending some :huggles: for her and some for you too hun :huggles:

glad all went well...don't worry too much about a heart murmur, my whippetX Bryn has had a heart murmur grade 3 since he was five years old and he's now twelve and he's had several bouts of surgery in that time and lived to tell the tale.

Hope all is ok - love from her sister Mabli and me xx
