Just wondered if anyone on here has a Toyota Yaris?

I was thinking of getting a smaller car as my son is going to be sitting his driving test next month and he will have his own car, so thinking about down sizing. I know the Yaris is a popular small car but my present car is a 1.5 litre Nissan Almera and if I am getting a Yaris not sure whether to get a 1 litre or a 1.3 ?

Just wondered if anyone on here had one. If so are they any good? Do they handle ok on the road or are they all over the place in the icy weather? It wouldn't be a new one, would be about an 03 or 04

My parents have one and I've driven it from time to time. Please don't ask me about engine size (it's a gold champagne colour!) but it is nice to drive. I'm not aware of any problems on snow and ice and it's a pretty reliable car. The only problem I know about with it is that the air conditioning has packed up but I think that was more to do with my Dad's tendency to leave it on all the time even when the heating was on! It's a nice car and quite comfortable and lots of room in the back for the dogs. Their car must be about 7 or 8 years old now too.

That's a great help thanks very much

The salesman at the showroom said they are robust cars for being so small, but wasn't sure if he was just saying that as that's his job :- "

Just need to think about the engine size. I will maybe end up going for the 1.3 as not sure if the 1litre would be just a bit too much a drop after having a 1.5litre. Though he also said the 1litre is quite nippy considering it's a small engine. I suppose saving money on petrol would be a major bonus

Thanks again

We got a Yaris Verso, which is the same apart from being estate, but not longer,if you see what i mean :D its a 1.3 and you can push the back seats into the floor or take them out all together ideal for the dog cages and so far very reliable  We had no problems in the winter and also comfy

Great little car but I would def go for the 1.3, it is very economical :)

im looking into getting the yaris verso, looks like tones of room for kids and dogs,

my friends an MOT tester he says that toyotas are fab and run forever with very little problems, so thats a big plus!!

Thanks everyone

Just need to try and shop around for a good deal and sell my Almera :- " I would like a 5 door and apparantly they are harder to come by, think I would be better with the 1.3 as well !
