Just back from a horrible walk with Penny. We went a slightly different route as the main road I cross was too bust so we walked further down and went up a different street. I heard these 3 school boys say something like oh its jumped the fence, next thing this big dog, it looked something like a cross between an american bulldog and staffordshire bull terrier came running across the road and made this horrible growl noise and went straight for Pennys face
Luckily she jumped back in time and I pulled her away, it almost bit her right in the side of her face. I know you have to try and stay calm in these situations but I was panicking thinking what do I do, the school boys shouted I should kick it, but since it wasn’t attacking then that’d be a bad idea. So I tried to slowly walk away making sure her face was not in contact with it at all, not even letting her look at it. Ended up standing on dog poo. I just wouldn’t go away, and there were a few moments where it had that look it could attack again.
I am so grateful one of the school boys went to the owners door and told them their dog was out and tried to bite Penny, the lady just shouted across is she alright? no apology or anything and a man came and got it. I really didn't know what to do for best, so I just walked away. My legs were like jelly and I felt I could just cry looking at Pennys little face and what could have happened. Its such a shame as Penny is such a friendly little dog and loves all dogs, she was terrified at all this with her tail between her legs and hunched over. Got home and my mum and dad are really angry about this that the dog was able to get out and do this.
I really thank the school boy that went to the door as if not it could have went for her again. She is now in her bed and getting lots of cuddles :huggles:
Sorry for the rant just had to get that off my chest.
