Hello there......I run North Lakes Lurcher & Longdog Rescue , up in the Lake District .

I am looking for a home for two whippet bitches aged 14 yrs. and 11 yrs. respectively. They are in good health and are still pretty fit . Unfortunately, their owners have died (within 16 weeks of each other) and they are looking for a new home together.

Misty (14) is fawn with a white blaze and Foggy (11) is fawn. They are pretty girls and very affectionate. Misty relies heavily on Foggy, who is the more outgoing of the two. They share the same bed and even when they are running, they touch sides.

They are very clean in the house and don't mind being left for a couple of hours......they just curl up and go to sleep.

I would love to find a quiet home for them where they can really enjoy their twighlight years , with lots of tlc and a lovely warm fire.

Do get in touch if you'd like to find out more about Misty and Foggy.

Thank you,

Kathryn McAllister (01900 85337)

A very sad story, I wish you luck, unfortunately with puppies and young children I cant help but I hope you find what your looking for.

regards

Hope they find a new home soon.

What a sad situation :( I'm sure the girls with get a loving home soon, unfortunatley like Max & Smokey I don't have a quiet home (w00t) and would probably give them more trauma than anything else with my 3 :luck: :luck: :luck:

Please keep us updated on their progress

hope you find them a nice warm home soon :luck:

All the very best :luck: :luck: in finding these two elderly ladies a home :huggles: wish i could help too but im in the same situation as max & smokey + Lesley.

Kathryn,

I wish you the best of luck finding these two lovely ladies a home, and hope and pray that they do find one soon. It's so sad a story, and I feel so much for them. I, unfortunately have to offer an excuse, I have two boys, one just had his 1st birthday and the other is 10 months. I just wish I knew someone who was willing to take them on :(

Please let us know what happens to them, and thank you for all the good work that you are doing

I really hope that these two older girls get a very loving new home :luck: as that is what they have been used to.If they have been with their previous owners from puppyhood it must have been very distressing for them to lose both in such a short time, poor girl's :(

Only wish I could help,as we already have an OAP rescue here :)) but as I live in N.I it's impossible.I'm sure some-one will come along soon, I definitely would not hesitate in recommending older Whips as excellent family members. Up until recently Kizzy did everything our younger ones did and in fact was nearly better as she had already gone thru her nutty stages with someone else (w00t) and we got to enjoy her nice sedate stage :huggles:

The only reason she can't enjoy doing what she used to,is because she has now gone totally blind :(

Best of luck with the search :luck:

Would love to see some pics, they sound lovely

Please try Whippet Rescue, they have a waiting list of people looking for bitches to rehome. Linda Jones on 01234 838927. Good luck in finding a home, they look so sweet.

Are these dogs local? I live in Workington and know of an elderly couple with 2 whippets, well actually i think they live Whitehaven way.

How sad :( If you need a hand with anything, travel, a couple of hours a day care or anything let me know

Just to add but not hijack the thread, i have heard of a retired greyhound bitch in rescue kennels nearby. I am not at liberty to say which kennels but if anyone can give a retired racer a good home i would be pleased to oblige and get this dog out of these kennels and can possibly transport to Manchester way next week. PM me if interested.
