Need to replace my car soon, not rich enough to buy a brand new car yet, I see my car as a piece of machinery that gets me from A to B, I hoover it inside ....about once a year, wash it by hand....even less, want it to run and run, good if it's comfy inside.

I need 4 doors, decent sized boot, don't have reversing/parking issues, don't mind diesel/petrol

I HATE SHOPPING FOR A CAR, it's so boring, (unlike other shopping :- " )

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON A MAKE/MODEL ????

BTW, currently have an ASTRA 5 door

I would just love to wake up in the morning and there, magically would be my next car on the drive , why aren't there car fairies ? :D

 I'm in the same position. I've been meaning to get a decent second hand car for a few months now, but keep putting it off, as I hate searching for cars.

I did test drive a Renault Kangoo a while back, and decided that this was the type of car I wanted. Loads of room in the boot, economical to run, sliding passenger doors, all the essentials (power assisted steering etc), nice height so a comfortable drive but not too big or long. The only downside is that it looks like a van with windows. Doesn't bother me, but it will put some folk off I know.

Auction - takes your money make your choice bid and drive away if you are looking for value for money and not bothered re MPG etc go for something like an Omega estate, volvo bmw etc prestige cars but everyones looking for small learner/shopper cars so they tend to be resonable or maybe a citreon xsara picaso drop like a stone 2nd hand

Ford Mondeo Estate  - so easy to drive, very comfortable, ENORMOUS boot, cheap to service, easy to pick up 2nd hand, and even looks nice! :p I have a diesel so I expect it to go on forever, only problem as it is really long so you do have to choose your car parking spaces quite carefully. :sweating:

Good luck :luck:

stay with the astras..

they are like the lurchers of the car world...

always ready to howl off up the road yet not bothered if they dont get fuss EVERYTIME you see them..

I love mine with a vengeance

Stormydog had a cracker for sale.A ford cougar. And i bet its had that much lovin in it ,that it wont mind if there's no more.Might be gone though, not sure. ...Billy...

Hi . We bought a Ford Galaxy 2.8 ghia. Ideal for the dogs but crucifying in terms of economy. Just recently sold it at a big loss :( . Great car but deep pockets needed.

I have an S reg renault Laguna and it runs and runs, huge boot, good on diesel nice and comfy, never broken down and not that must expence at MOT time. :)

I would like a newer one but as I work in Upper school and park it in the playground carpark everyday, I would be like a cat on hot bricks all the time, so I will keep it until it just doesn't go anymore :D

, sliding passenger doors,

I've seen those Nicola, should imagine they are good for parking as you don't need much space to swing open the doors, but then the idiots next to me would wang their door open into mine :- " so not much point being able to squeeze into tight spaces :D

Been noticing those Picassos, but they look like they take a lot of juice, have you had a diesel one, Masta ?

Had a Laguna Lesley, very comfy, and I know what you mean about the carpark, our hospital carpark is murder for getting dents in your doors, one reason I'd be reluctant to splash out on a brand newie, even if I could :(

Try what car website - it gives reviews of the cars, you can compare them on-line, gives you an idea of what you'll have to pay and I think it can even suggest what would be suitable for you.

We are hoping to get a new car later in the year and at the moment we are thinking of an astra or vectra estate. We've got a 10yr old corsa as a run around at the minute and I love it, I'll be sad to see it go but it's a bit of a squeeze with 6 dogs (w00t)

Does that mean I don't have to get a new one until I've found myself 2 more whippets then (w00t) 8) :- "

needing a lie down after buying a 2006 VW Passat today. :- "

Went for a large family saloon, reliable, sturdy, very safe, good mpg (diesel)

spent more than I wanted to but decided that I liked the colour, it was almost new and clean and is the nearest I can get to a classier car at the mo :D

I will keep it for a long time ( if it behaves) and will be so sad to see my Astra go, but will transfer my nodding dog (8yrs old and chewed by Ella as a puppy !) to this new dash (even if that's not the done thing :p )

You could live in the boot, I've had reversing sensors put in, not that I'm scared of reversing, just never paid so much for a machine and the other week had to kick myself for reversing into a concrete bollard, couldn't believe I'd done it

no ones perfect :p

what put me off the Picasso was the reviews that said about the roll, I get travel sick too easily.

S'pose it'll get washed TWICE a year since it looks posh 8)

My last company car was a Passat estate and it was LOVELY! Never a moment's worry or problem with it, very comfortable and huge boot.

You will be very happy with it I'm sure.

I have an Audi A4 now, which I also love, but it doesn't have nearly as much space as the Passat. I need to change my car again in the autumn, and I have already been to look at the new model Passat, and will be booking a test drive soon :- "

Good luck with your new car Julie, :luck: my hubby used to have a Passat as his company car in black, it was a good car,and I always liked it, he now has a Honda Accord.

Well done. I'm sure you can't go far wrong with a VW! You'll have loads of room with a passat.

I've just put a deposit on a Renault Kangoo (OH wishes it was a VW estate!). I've had enough of being carless at weekends. I already know every blade of grass in this area....I could do with venturing out a bit further again. :teehee:

Good luck :luck:
