Hi,

i've been looking for info regarding the diet of a racing whippet but as of yet have had little success. I've read a couple of books but most seem very dated.

Any information of any kind would be a ggod start and would be much appreciated.

Also, how much effect does the diet have on the performance??

Cheers Neil.

Just remembered the name of one of the books - it was titled "Whippets Rearing and Racing" by Pauline Wilson - To those that have read this - are the principles within this book still aplicable today?? -

I feed my lot wether racing or not .......Fresh meat and a high class complete twice a day :D .........and I personally think as long as the dogs got a well balanced diet and is fit etc.....you'll get as much out of them as is possible

Some people go the fresh meat, veg & pasta/Rice/Biscuit route, others give a good complete. Both seem to work pretty well.

Years ago when I raced my first dog she used to love raw eggs every day - dont know if any one else finds this beneficial. I used to buy beast hearts and livers a lot too.

Slightly off subject, you mention books being dated. For anybody interested Mary Lowe's English Whippet is re-printed for the 3rd time and on sale from today.
