Took myself off this morning 8 30, just got back, what ive encountered today has been awful to a working bloke like me, every field i work with permission, was riddled with rabbits suffering from myxi, 7 caught today, 5 yesterday, all put out of their misery thanks to my dog jill, the highlight of my day was when this big old dog fox jumped out of the hedgerow to try nick one bunny off my doggy, sorry due to rules, not allowed to show the pic, no harm done to my dog or fox may i add.

Heres a pic for those never seen myxamatosis, not very nice is it, im off out again with a farmer tonight, 11pm, troublesome fox

 Take care Keith! you know what youre like!! (w00t) Dont fall down any holes, or over any fences/gates or walls or get chased by any herds of wild beasties!!!....... Does your lady have you insured??!! ;)

what a horrible disease it is.at least you are puting them out there mysery and preventing it spreading onto more.last year it hit here very bad there was loads on the grass verges and we were pulling up in the car and dispatching them.great for starting the young dogs though but fingers crossed it doesnt hit here again this year like it did last.lovely dog mate and good hunting.

Didnt get in till 3ish this morning, what a time had some bonny characters i can tell you, there was only me normal amongst em, didnt take my dog, guns included

anyways got 2 dog foxes, ive just this min got back from the same area and look what i snapped amongst the sewage beds

We seem to have a lot of Myxi up here atm. Hate to see them just sitting there waiting for the end- I agree that the dogs save them from a far more prolonged death. Don't 'work' my dog as such but have access to farmland and Druridge Bay where the rabbit population is enormous. Love your photos Keith

Myxi is such an awful thing isn't it those poor rabbits, its looks really painful :(

I don't know what area you live but we are in Essex and have a 1000 acre nature reserve behind us here too the Myxi is taking hold and as you say very early in the year.

It usually hits here after harvest , such a wicked disease.

Well Lesley somewhere on k9 someone mentioned that they dont suffer, but you just look at the rabbits eyes my dogs got hold of, thats nowt compared to what ive caught, its a cruel disease, this is the first day i havent been out with jill cos shes picking them off like the clappers and to be honest, it turns my stomach

Funny all this talk of Myxi, so far this year I've seen no signs of it, for example last night I saw tens possibly hundreds all grazing with no signs of Myxi, I do hate seeing it though same as you Keith, those eyes :(

Theres not much around this area either im just outside oxford, i keep my horse on a farm and the farmer said he hasnt seen much maybe the odd one and thats it

can't the dogs get ill through biting a diseased rabbit ?

And to think on some anti sites , they say they would prefer a rabbit to die from myxie rather than be ferreted or caught by a dog. w-----s

Nice pics Keith btw
