It is such a shame. K9 used to be a wonderful source of support and assistance. I have made some wonderful friends through the forum and had some fantastic help and advice. :))

Lately, we get some forum members posting in inappropriate areas of the site and others being downright unpleasant and bitchy.

This is particularly evident and prevelent in the General whippet section.

Advice is always welcome, personal opinion sometimes welcome, but rudeness is never welcome.

It is such a shame, I miss K9 the way it used to be :(

Unfortunately, in life you've just got to accept that there are some sad people who get a kick out of arguing and / or upsetting others.

I used to think they should just be banned but they can just get another account, use a proxy IP and carry on. The best thing is to leave them to post and confirm they're the idiots we all think they are. So long as the majority speak sense, stick to the site and keep posting their good advice then they'll be in a minority.

I agree, I miss the old K9, and I too have made some fabulous forever friends on here, but unfortunately some people just post to make life unpleasant for others, so I post less and less.

So true

You don't have Juney on the job getting rid of the idiots anymore :teehee:

You can tell troublemakers a mile off. You can prevent them from posting, and sooner or later they do get fed up with getting new email addresses, and registering under different names. Trouble is you need lots of time to keep an eye on things. I got very little thanks for doing it for 10 years, and I'm glad not to have to anymore - life is so much simpler

My best advice is to simply ignore the trolls who come on here simply to get off on upsetting people. Don't fed them by lowering yourselves to reply to them.

I agree with June that being a super mod on here is a thankless horrible job and I'm very glad that I'm no longer one. The people who moderate this forum do a good job and mostly they just end up being moaned at.

Is any of this aimed at me ?

Is any of this aimed at me ?
Wouldn't think anyone who regularly posts lovely pics of their dogs would offend others

The problem is most of the nice folk don't post here anymore because of the trouble makers .

You just can't let the bullies win

I agree with Alison.

It is the rude, inappropriate and offensive nature of many posts that have been appearing over the last few months that have been spoiling K9 of late.

I totally agree my enjoyment of this site has been put to the test of late. You can tell by the tone and nature of the posts exactly what type of people they are. They also know who they are and probably find it all very amusing.

It's just i have poked my nose in general Whippets

a lot just lately lol

As a first time whippet owner, well first time dog owner since moving out of my parents, I found this site invaluable in helping to answer all of those little questions that I am sure all new owners get (I have to admit some of mine are probably stupid questions).

I have had some great advice and though I may not personally agree with some of it I do take it all on board and value the opinion of people far more experienced than myself. Generally, like most, if I post something I do so because I need advice in how to deal with an issue that is worrying me not to be judged and berated for my inexperience (at least, like many who take the time to post on here, I am trying to solve the problems not ignoring them).

There are some people on here that seem really nice and helpful, so thanks to you. Following diet advice (switched to Burns Pork and Potato) my dogs tummy has settled and it is not costing me the earth for vet prescribed food and after following much of your advice on training I often get comments on how friendly and well behaved my whippet is, it is, as can probably be gathered by posts I have made, still a work in progress but we are certainly getting there and faster than I had expected.

I sincerely hope that this site goes back to being a place for advice (and occasional, rational debate) rather than an argument and chance to just be down right rude.

But thanks again to those that do genuinely try to help.

:clown: I agree with you the trouble is people like to cause bad feeling & cause trouble on line but don't have the bottle to speak to people face to face. We are supposed to be adults some people want to act like adults. New years resalution perhaps, merry christmas to everybody and a happy and safe new year.

I think I probably need to apologise to you as I recently had a rant on a post by LM1981 in the Gen Dis, Whippets. It touched a raw nerve because of what happened to me and I completely empathised with LM1981. Coincidentally, I had an upsetting incident yesterday whilst out walking .......but I wont go there! However, when I lost one my dogs in an accident last year, just sharing the awful news with like minded dog lovers, and the lovely comments and sympathy I received, really did help.

I appears that most of the whippet show people and pedigree whippet racing people have given up on here. Sad. I used to enjoy the show chat, results and advice etc!!!!

Shame, there seems to be a hard core of people who can post what they like and get away with it.
