I HAVE BEEN READING THESE COMMENTS ON K9 AND THE ACTUAL FEELING THAT IS COMING ACROSS FROM THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE REPLYING IS THAT PEOPLE SHOULD NOT GET TO THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE BEING OFFENSIVE .TO BE OUTSPOKEN AND BLUNT IN SPEECH IS FINE ,AND IT MAKES GREAT READING, BUT TO BE OPPINIONATED WHERE ACTUAL NAMES AND NASTINESS IS PUT FORWARD FOR ALL TO READ ON K9 IS NOT FINE.BE OPPINIONATED BUT NOT PERSONAL,KNOWING THAT A CERTAIN COMMENT IS GOING TO CAUSE ILL FEELING SHOULD NOT GO ON K9.CERTAIN PEOPLE ON K9 ARE MEDIATORS,THAT MEANS YOU ARE AN AMBASSADER FOR THIS SITE AND THERE FOR SHOULD NOT BE OF THE OPPINIONS THAT ARE BEING WRITTEN. TO SAY SILLY THINGS LIKE "IM NOT GOING TO STOP HAVING MY SAY" ETC,.IF A PERSON WANTS TO BREED ALL THEIR DOGS THE SAME YEAR THEY SHOULD BE ALLOWED,IF THEY WANT TO CALL THEIR DOGS MULTI-PURPOSE THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO,IF THEY WANT TO CHARGE £200 FOR THEIR STUD DOG,LET THEM.AS LONG AS THE ANIMAL/S WELFARE IS TOP PRIORITY.GETTING PERSONAL ON K9 FOR ALL TO READ AND PEOPLE CONCERNING THEM-SELVES IN AN OTHER PERSONS PRIVATE AFFAIRS IS TOTALLY WRONG.CERTAIN COMMENTS TOWARDS INDIVIDUALS ON HERE THIS EVENING HAVE STILL BEEN CRITICAL. ITS NOT GOOD AND CAUSES ILL-FEELINGS IF PEOPLE COME IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER IN THE DOG WORLD, THIS IS A GOOD SITE, DONT SPOIL IT. TAKE CARE ,SUE :sweating:

I think that people can see from all the many many threads that in general the topics are of good intent and fun to read most of the time.

As Jax has correctly stated, on an email or thread you will never get the true feeling of the person that is writting the comment, that is why we have the smily faces to help put more feeling into the thread. To indicate a joking comment or otherwise.

If people ask for an opinion they will get it, you may not like it but then dont ask.

This is a free site,

Many of us pay good money to collect opinions of people about our Dogs and often dont agree with them. So we dont ask them again.

Nobody is forced to type threads, or put photos on the site.

To be honest with you Lesley, k9 has ALWAYS had controversial topics so maybe you just weren't looking in the right places before, a lot of people on here are opinionated and will say what they think - i would much rather it be that way than a large majority who sit on the fence or worse still agree with people coz they want to be popular! If people want to carry on in cuckoo land with their head in the clouds thinking everyone agree's with what they say/do then fine but i won't change my opinion just to suit members on here, everything i say on here i stand by and will say to someones face and i think if people have to stop having their own opinion then we might as well close k9 now!

There's nothing wrong with having differing opinions, it's HOW those opinions are presented that cause the problem. I don't have a problem with people having a different opinion than I do - and often I'll understand their reasons for it even if I don't agree with them. But if it's presented rudely or condmningly or arrogantly, then yes there's a problem. There's discussion - which is two sides listening to each other even if they disagree. Then there's ramming it down someone's throat - which is one side trying to force their point across while the other is no longer listening.

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar - softening an approach means you're more likely to get your point heard.

(and no this is not directed at your personal approach - I can't remember what you may or may not have said on specific topics - I'm just addressing your point above)

I must have missed some pretty heated threads as I've not been on here much recently.

If anyone feels as if they have been personally attacked then they can report it to the moderator - and the person responsible will get a warning?

I think K9 is fantastic, but inevitably with so many people from different backgrounds and interests, opinions will differ. I enjoy seeing a good debate and hearing other people's view points, even on subjects I feel strongly on myself.

It is easy to offend without meaning to - look at poor ILKC when she first joined and we all thought she was slagging off pegigree dogs :b

Also - innocent comments can be taken the wrong way - I complimented a brilliant dog at the Hill sprint last week, that unbeknown to me was linked to a heated topic on K9 at the time. I didnt mean to stir anything up I just wanted to congratulate a worthy winner.
