sorry but ive got to have a moan!

the other day i read a artical which someone had written and sent into the paper. It was complaining that apart from working dogs (guide dogs etc) there was no point in dogs because all they do is bark all day/night, foul on the floor and have hundereds of unwanted litters.

does this man not realise that dogs are far more than just pets they provide company and a life long friendship has he not considered all the dogs out there which are merly pets yet they have alerted there owners to intruders, fires etc therefore saving there lives, there are dogs which provide people with the confidence to go out and even provide emotional support for people with disorders inturn giving their owners their lives back! :D

just because a minority of dog owners allow their dogs too much freedom and have no controll of them it causes dogs to get a bad reputation  dogs are far more than animals each has there own personality and purpose!

dogs provide so much good to humans and they realy are a mans best friend.

sorry but i realy needed to moan because the man was soooooooo aragant and it realy upset me to see dogs being talked about so worthlessly (sp)

I dont know what i would do without my dogs, when the kids are in bed and my husband is at work (he works a late shift) they keep me company and its someone to chat to

They are my babies :huggles:

without dogs....

A cold sofa..

no knowing the comfiest bit of the bed to lie on

no early morning call so you can watch them wee in the garden

no one to clean the chilli out the frying pan before you try to wash it

having to pick up spilt cereals off the floor yourself

having to wash your own toes

no-one to blame a fart on

no way of knowing when its dinner time

doesnt bear thinking about really

Had to laugh at this!! I wouldn't be me without my boys :huggles: Tiny tried to clean my eyeballs the other day!!! :x

The man who said there was no point to dogs is obviously and idiot and has never had a dog!

Where did you read this article please, who was it by?

Would be nice to write a reply, mentioning not only the good done by dogs as companions to the sick, the old and the lonely (and the healthy rest of us), but what about:

guide dogs for the blind

hearing dogs for the deaf

assistance dogs for the disabled

search and rescue dogs

PAT (Pets As Therapy) dogs visiting the sick

and that's just for starters, I bet there are far more examples than I've just listed.

Anyway, you could do "for and against" lists for any species ... whenever I hear about the latest global warming/famine/pollution etc stuff, I think, wouldn't it just be easier for the planet if mankind didn't exist? But that's too extreme, isn't it, to remove a species just because it causes too much mess/pain etc ...

When you are sad and crying, they always come and cuddle up.

They get you out...........I've made so many friends since having my boys.

They keep you fit.Well they need excercise, but I need it more.

They bring a smile to your face every day..............

They are pleased to see you, so much more than any human.

They give you a purpose..........What's life without a purpose?

apart from all the dogs that help people like the blind, deaf etc, what about the dogs that have been used in experiments over the years, did they die a needless death?what about the dogs who fought alongside soldiers in wars and gave their all?what about all the people who have only got one friend in life, their pet,who loves them no matter what they look like or how they feel.really i think this was an ignorant remark by a remarkably ignorant man :(

i echo everything u and everone else say kris. as a disabled person my dog acts as my physio, if it wasnt for her it would be the easyist thing in the world to sit on my backside and give in to the severe pain im in and as a result lose what is left of my mobility. without dana mithering me to take her to the park, to take her out for a wee and have mad fights round the flat i wouldnt be able to do half the things i can. to top that off she is my best friend and when i feel down or my limitations are depressing me she gets on my knees and gives me kisses, they really should bottle dog slobber as a replacement for valium :p

Well if I didnt have dogs I would have to speak to my hubby and kids instead

Were both just the same here the dogs push us to get up in a morning and get out and about I think we could go for days if not weks without seeing anyone if we didnt have the dogs and they make us fight to stay mobile as well as help us out some of the will pick things up for us and it can make a big differnce. haveing someone depend on you can change your life after all I love there dogs and If i didnt fight my disabiltys I would have to rehome them and thats never going to happen. Your kids grow up and leave home and dont need you anymore your dogs allways do
