Had an hour out on the lamp last night. During the afternoon the wind had been up and it looked like it would be a good night to for a lamping session. A phone call to the farmer let him know we would be around. My daughter Emma had been out a few times before when I`d been lamping, and she was going to accompany me tonight.

We got to the farm, and there was no wind! just heavy rain. We had Suzie and Gypsy with us, I haven`t had Suzie out on the lamp yet so it would be good education for her. We saw a few rabbits sat out, but due to the rain they were sat very close to the hedges. Both Suzie and Gypsy had runs , but didn`t get a real chance to catch . The rain eased off a little as we headed for the last field . I scanned the field and saw a sitter in the middle of the field, sat under a telegraph pole. I walked up to it and Gypsy saw it in the beam. I slipped her about 15 yards away , and she closed instantly on the rabbit . She turned it on her first strike and it headed for the hedge. Gypsy seemed to find another gear and smartly anticipated and turned it off the hedge , taking it with a great strike.

I was really pleased with her, she is getting back to her best after her phantoms . She is a credit to her breeder Mr Mike Brown and always gives 110%. All in all an enjoyable hour out.

good stuff.

we were out last night for two hours wind vanished no rain and the moon was out. Saw chuff all but badger's and a tawny owl. my mates lurcher had a sigle run as did our whippet lad but sadly returned with nowt to show. dont know what it was like your way but our ground was sodden and you could hear a pin drop.

Nice to see that your daughter has taken an intrest in the dogs not many kids would be bothered to go out and see their dog doing what comes natural to them,

good luck in all your adventures together
