I am very lucky in having good a good ringcraft class within 20 minutes where real help is given - assessing the best speed the dog moves at, handling errors (loads in my case even after more years than I can remember), how to give the dog confidence on the table and other tips. However, I have been to classes which consist of someone just standing there while dogs are moved round and then going over each one in a pretty incompetent manner and that's it - not at all helpful for a novice (or anyone else).

Can anyone tell me where there is a good, helpful ringcraft class? I particularly want to know if there is one in the Aldermaston/Tadley area but since this is something I am asked on a regular basis, I'd like to keep a list of good places.

That's not what I was asking. Most of them are counterproductive. I want to know where the good, helpful ones are. The one I go to isn't registered.

I don't know if this might help? These have all been recommended.

Most ringcraft clubs seem to work on the assumption that people already know what they are doing and offer no advice at all. I often wonder how novices learn anything. Most of the one's that we have been to in the past have just been a load of people sitting around nattering and doing very little else.

We are lucky that there is one good one about 20 minutes from Jo's house, where the man who runs it although not a hound owner is very knowledgable about how to get the best out of your dog, speed, stacking everything

The good one's seem to be like gold dust.

Sorry we are nowhere near you, so my post isn't much help - but I know on the whippet forum there is a list of ringcraft clubs - might be worth a look on there
