in the experience i have with this condition if the other hasnt dropped before 5 months old its unlikely it will usually because the cord is too tight ,most people are advised to message the other testicle down from a early age (if its visible but they arent always) and as many times a day as pos ,but again i dont think it makes much difference and thats just my opinion :)

If not own now unlikely to come down but if take to vets he can palpate and see if it is in groin area or in th abdomen. If not descended needs to be removed as they can go cancerous later in life

My dog had both retained up until the age of three, but they were never ever visible so must've been a long way up :- "

Got them whipped out in the end and now he is very boingy :D and less fear aggressive so I'm wondering if he was in pain because of them :(

I've heard that they can drop up to about 9-12 months of age but I don't know how often that happens. My vet told us to wait (due to my dogs nervous problems) as any increased risk of cancer is only seen from after 3 years of age. Possibly go to the vet to see if they can suggest a way of massaging it down.

If it's visible and he thinks it does drop down occasionally i'm affraid he's gotta play with it  Worked with one of my boys.

Worth a shot!!

My young blue dog had a yoyoing testicle, it eventually stayed down, he was nearly six months old when I was sure it was down to stay. it was visible when he was lying relaxed on his back but it went up when he stood up, I could get it down but it would pop back up again, he had a course of testosterone shots from the vet, he gave it a 50/50 chance of coming down and was as pleased as I was when it stayed put.

On the other hand I had a puppy, entire at eight weeks, had his first jab, both there the vet checked, he got stung by a wasp, and they vanished! At his second jab the vet couldn't believe it, they never came down in spite of massaging them down, he eventually went to a lovely pet home, they had him castrated at 3.

Hi there,

One of my pups didn't get his second testicle until he was five and a half months old and prior to it suddenly appearing there wasn't any sign of it at all!!

My vet said that they wouldn't even start to worry about it not appearing until the pup was twelve months old - so don't panic yet!!
