I rang a lady today who is advertising Whippet pups on the internet. She has just sold a whole litter except 2 and has another litter due in 2 weeks. She didn't ask me a single question and said I could have the pick of the next litter. Is this someone to steer clear of? They are Oakbark/Laguna puppies and I am looking for a blue pup which she thinks will be in the next litter.

I just think if I ever sold a litter I would question the person enquiring about them!

What do you think?

Hi Kirs

No this is not the normal behaviour for breeders of whippets, well not responsible ones!! (w00t) (w00t)

Did you get the ladies name or the area she was in??

Were they advertised for working or showing? Where were they advertised??

You can pm me the name if you dont want to post it on the forum.

When i bought my pup from a lady in Bristol she asked questions, because she had had one pup brought back as the owners didnt realise it would be such hard work  like duh.....

She took my name address and is going to ring me later on in the year to see how im getting on....

I think someone who cares about the pups would ask loads of questions cause i guess you get very attached to them even if they are young and will be leaving soon, you want to make sure they go to a really loving home :))

Thanks for the link Dawn . I thought it was some one who approached me for a dog pup for stud , (w00t) as her dog was getting on :( But in a differant area 8)

After I made my own enquires about this person , they did not get a pup

lots of breeders are in it for the money but threre are good blood lines

What page is it on ? Im getting the advert's for local dogs only :(

Dont put any area in when it ask u just continue

Yeah, but that link is only one of the advertisements she has. The other is for a litter of blue and black puppies which was what I was enquiring about as it's blue I'm after.

So possibly that's 2 litters with another on the way?

Could someone explain to me how the prices work on that site  they all seem rather expensive.......................(except the pony)

another link to the whippets advertised
Why would reputable breeders have to advertise thier puppies in this way is beyond me!

Dawn , she obviously isnt a reputable breeder is she

I had a guy ring me about puppies the other night and his first question was `How much are they ?` I didnt like what I heard so i said £500.00 (w00t) Soon got rid of him  . No more questions were asked and he wouldnt have got one off me anyhow

I dont like these I want one NOW people , But those who are prepared to wait for the right puppy are my kind of owners :huggles:

Why don't you call her again and ask if you can come to see her dogs. Three litters almost simultaneously does not sound good, but find out the facts. If she is reluctant to let you come over, FORGET it.

  OMG McDonald's car park!!!

She was fine about me going to see them. She said she'd email me some pics of the parents and previous litters and I could go down and see the impending litter once they were born and if I liked them I could have the pick of the bitches and come back for her when she was ready to leave her Mum.

I am just very wary because I don't want to make a mistake. We bought a Whippet before who had been kindof inter-bred and she was extremely highly strung, very noisy and a nipper of humans.

That is why I would go to see her and meet her dogs, ASAP. You can see how she keeps her dogs, how many she has, you can assess their temperament. Ask her if she is showing her dogs. Ask for a copy of their pedigree and then you can decide if you want a puppy from this breeder or not. I guess it is only couple of weeks until the litter is born, but how soon after she has the litter will you be allowed to come over? I am very reluctant to allow people traipsing through my house when I have new babies; it can upset the bitch, and they may bring some virus on their feet or clothing etc.
