Our two whips and three cats all get on well but our 4 year old[ dog, Rocket, and Codi the cat have been firm friends since he was a puppy and the cat was 2 years old.

I think it depends upon how much puppy playfulness the cat can take!attachmentid=19642]

05_1_010.jpgHey! Lets keep this thread going. I, too, love dog and cat pics! There must be more of you out there that have whips and cats living in harmony.

Just to make Mark Roberts cringe, here is a pic two of his Parkstones, Rocket and Bandit with Norwegian Forest cat Codi. This cat is not fazed by any dog and regularly enters the dog flap of the house next door when he knows that their Jack Russel is about to be fed and then (according to the JRs owners) shoulders their barking dog out of the way and leisurly consumes his dinner after which he curls up in front of their fire and goes to sleep.

Awww Wolfy thats a lovely picture - your whippets look  scrumptious too

Heres a few more of my dogs and cats.

All this irritates me slightly.....whippets should be discouraged from falling out with cats..

But any adult whippet worth its' salt will not be bossed about by a cat...

For years we had a cat which had lived with us on the farm...I loved him...big ginger and white job, but Piper had the measure of him..

Now we have a farm cat which we have had since a kitten...the dogs all behave with him, if he behaves himself...but Piper will have words, if he gets too near her dish, or is otherwise disrespectful....They all know to leave our cat, in our yard....But they have killed ferral cats, which have got in the way when we are out hunting....and so it should be...

Some of the posts about dog behaviour on here are about pups.....a 10 month old dog will not exhibit the behaviour of a fully mature dog.

Here is a pic of one of my whippets and one of my siamese cats, they do live in harmony but if the cats run the dogs do chase but only outside ! They often cuddle up together indoors.
