Who Remembers Going To School In Cubs/brownie Uniform?

yes i remember going in my brownie uniform in the 70's :b

why did/does this tradition take place?....what's the link please between st george and the uniformed organisations?

cheers if you can help....thanks

i've googled it but can't find a simple/clear answer

Yes me too...I was a Brownie and a Guide too..

I remember that, but I wasn't a Brownie or a Girl Guide so I just wore normal school uniform

I did when I was in primary school. I was one of the first Brownies in our pack to have the 'new' uniform - collotes, jumper, sash and baseball cap. I couldn't wait to show it off! That would have been the early 90's I think.

I seem to remember having a session on this while I was at Brownies and it has something to do with the Brownie promise, 'to love my God, to serve my Queen and my country...' Whichever country the pack belongs to, they celebrate the saint's day of the country, hence different countries wearing uniform on different days. As St eorge is the Patron Saint of England and Brownies serve England, they celebrate by wearing their uniform.

Sorry if this is a bit hazy - it was over 15 years ago I learnt it!

I remember going in my uniform I was an pixie.

My mum was a brown owl she only gave up a few years ago because she was 65 and they don't think people that age should be careing for children. She was and still is a registered childminder and still helps out at the brownie pack
