I know exactly what you mean, I thought we were being brave getting two and now I find myself still looking, even though we just got our 2nd bitch 4 weeks ago! I think we need therapy.

They are definately addictive.   I have two whippets and a Collie X. I would love another whippet, but he who must be obeyed won't allow me to have any more dogs!! :(

The trouble is, at my age, :- I know I will never be able to have all the whippets I would love to have. I yearn to have a blue, a brindle/white, oh and not forgetting a black with white trim o:) .

they are addictive because they are the best dogs ever! Ive already got a name picked for my next one and Molly is only 20 weeks old!

so true! my mother and fiance had never been into sighhounds, and now they're absolutely won over and adore Eskil and think rightfully that it is the top breed

Yes I did only have one...till I found this site.....blame you lot... :-

It was only going to be Jinny for me ...............................

Now look what's happened!!!!!!

SIX in less than 18 months (w00t)

And yes .......... I still keep looking at puppies on here

It was nearly 9 years ago that we bought our first whippet. We now have 10 although I do admit out of a litter I bred I was supposed to keep 1 dog and anded up with 2 bitches and a dog and the latest addition little Holly was not expected or planned she was a present to us of her breeder. I will say though that she is a little darling and you don't know you have got her unlike my 3 asbo pups. They didn't just spring her on us they did tell us about her 6 weeks before she came to us.

Sooooooo true. Ive wondered the same. I'm the minority here, just got the one, Louie nearly 11 months. Even though at the time when Louie was at that absolute mad, crazy pup stage, i thought 'never again' as i was so exhausted (harder work at the time than my 3 yr old daughter!). I have kind of forgotten about those trials & tribulations, & the bags underneath my eyes, & found myself craving another one of this special breed. Louie has grown in to a wonderful whippet, & i would love another one... just a matter of time maybe, we'll see.

well next year (if not before) we will be looking for no.3 blue hopfully, then maybe another year and add a black to the mix,

i long for all the colours of the whippetyrainbow, i have fawn and fawn parti, need blue and blue parti, black and black parti, brindle and brindle parti, blue brindle and blue brindle parti, ect ect..... how good would that look walking in the park (w00t)

Please please please, if someone finds a cure for this awfull addiction.....

burn it and never show my OH :-

Hello, my name is katie and i am a whipaholic (w00t) :p

Quote from this evening from my husband who has never owned dogs in the past and was only persuaded to get ours last year after NINE YEARS of me wanting a dog: ''I'm only ever going to have whippets for the rest of my life.''

I knew hounds were addictive after my parents afghan stole my teenage heart but now it's only ever whippets...

Why? They have personalities but are not annoying. They are sleek and beautiful. They come to visit you when you are typing, just to check you are ok and then go and snuggle on the nearest sofa just to be near to you. They are low maintenance even in the muddiest weather. You can fall into their eyes. They make you proud to walk them. They greet you when you come into a room as if you have been away for days, even when you have only been to put the kettle on. My husband thinks they are 'noble and dignified' (erm apart from eating poo and chewy). Soo addictive.

Addictive !!! Don't know what your talking about...........

It's the colour thing isn't it? If they came in just solid fawn with no variation, would it be so tempting to keep adding to the pack? :sweating:

That, and they are easy dogs to maintain, no real grooming; they're clean, they are too regal and aloof to want to work and play silly games all the time o:) and they all fold together like brightly coloured scarves in a drawer (well, kind of :teehee: ).

I agree with you there Jo.

Whippets come in all sorts of colours and variations of those colours. OH would love another setter to go with Zoe (not a chance if I have anything to do with it) but they are boring all the same colour yes there are different shades of the red but the hair the brushing AGGGGGHHHHHHHHH. If I bath her it takes 3 hours to bath dry groom and trim her for a show. The whippets I can have ready in less than an hour. Thats why you very rarely see her a shows any more :teehee: It doesn't matter how much exercise she gets she still bounces of the walls all the time if she gets muddy it takes for ever to brush it out of her coat. Who in the right mind would want 2 of them

dont think is a colour thing with me as i only have fawns and blacks. greyhouds are as adictive but there size makes you limet how many you have but whippets well theres allways room for a little one somewere but 7 whippets 4 greyhouds and a lurcher is definatly enghe for even the most avid collectour lol. I do watch peoepl out with there dogs and think thats nice but you wouldnt one 2 of them lol not like whippets. I think wwhippets seams happeyset in a group aswell and thrive on whippty company more than other breeds do

You and I both know that if you get another whippet then you will also have to get a new home (w00t)

there is just something about whippets, something you cant quite put your finger on , i cant remember when a whipet or whippet type wasnt in my family, just think to when you have a crap day and the look they give to you , something just tells you in those eyes everything will be ok , they are happy in a group , happy to be an only dog , so many activities you can do with just 1 whippet, what other breed offers so much?
