Freyas tassle is very pretty, but some of those on that website are OTT lol.

All our dogs have tassels for special days out but the ones on that website are way OTT.

Bought this for Oskar when he was still a cute cuddly puppy... gold coloured leather + TASSEL.

TJ came with a collar like that!! I saw it in Jackie's car and said "What a GORGEOUS collar!" I don't think she was intending it to go with him but let me have it anyway!!!

all mine uesd to were tassels all the time the greyhounds and lurcher never noticed them but when i got one for lacey it was allways in her way so off they came. they just seam too long for a whipets litte neckbut the only history with tassels i know is it was startes with the salukes in if you fine old pics of salukes in the desserts working they have tassesl on. think they spread to other site hounds quite resantly

I thought the tassle decoration would have had something to do with the Egyptian/Arabian/Middle Eastern tribes or peoples who would have owned dogs like the Pharoah Hound & Saluki. Tassles adorn their own accessories so why not the dogs' accessories too?

Sounds like a fair explanation Lana, when you look at old drawings and paintings from that era - the sighthounds all seem to be wearing them. :))

Malin, your Oskar looks sooo   in his.

Yes, pretty sure this is the case - traditional tack for Arabian horses is very similar. Lots of tassels here!

Oh lovely......I think in that case they are pretty fly swatting adornments  :teehee:

The plan (hatched when I was about 10) was to have the full set of Arabian horse, Saluki and falcon, all tasseled up to the nines. Hmmn, 29 year on and still not quite there yet

Cling on to that dream, sounds like an achievable goal, and a lovely one too

maybe im a bit girly or something but i think the tassels are scrumptious!and i love those collars and tassellls on that site! if i had a whippy theyd have a different set for every day of the week! :- "

Well, I did follow falconry for a while with a view to gettin a Harris Hawk and know how much work is involved etc. Couldn't fly it here either because of all the larks anyway.

I did ride an arab once, most amazingly smooth and comfortable ride (well compared with choppy welsh ponies anyway).

I'll probably go for a Saluki at some point, (when I'm breaking a new siamese in :- " wouldn't be fair on the current one). I saw a whippet-sized one once, a really tiny choc-silver bitch about 20"

Not sure I particularly like tassels for whippets - so I'll just have to get a Saluki to satisfy my tassel cravings then :- "
