I agree with Dessie re this. 4 of mine all had stitches recently, very similar wounds, my vet gave them all a local aneasthetic and I held them while they were done, it was over and done with in 10 mins. Leia licked her stitches out and she now has yet another scar I think it also depends on which way the skin has torn ie away from the blood flow or not, as to how much it bleeds or how well it will heal on it's own.
