Jonathon Ross interviewed Will Young on Friday nights show. He asked would he like a pet and Will said he would like to own a dog. When asked what breed he said he would really like an Italian Greyhound  Do you think an Iggie would like to own a Will Young?????

Celebrity lifestyle for an iggie most definatly :* i can see the coats and dimonte collars now

sounds like the perfect mix!

I think that would be brilliant!  Even more Zoomies! :*

 There is only ONE Zoomie!!!...... but I'll allow looka-like-ies  (w00t) :p

(and I'd have to interview Will Young thoroughly first.....)

;) Yep I watched that show. It was brill, fancy Will knowing what an Italian Greyhound is. Poor Jonathan Ross had to admit he'd never heard of them.

Think WY would make an excellent IG owner.

God help us if anyone that high profile gets an Ig :(

The last thing we need is for them to become the latest fashion accessory like the Chihuahuas that all the top Barbie dolls are carrying around in their handbags

My thoughts exactly.

he works long hours, is flying all over the world the poor dog wouldn't have a settled lifestyle.

My sentiments exactly, all i can say is god help the breed if he does, cos if they end up becoming the next fashion accessory Rescue is about to become mighty busy!!!

Wonder if Billy Mackenzie experienced the same reaction when he raised the profile of whippets in the eighties

Why would rescue be busy? if they become so popular demand will outstrip supply

Not sure Billy realy did,

I was lucky enough to meet Billy a few times at racing, he was a realy nice bloke who had a great knoledge the sport and whippets in general, He had great respect for his dogs.

From that sheer statement alone you obviously know NOTHING about the breed what so ever, unfortunately the same as most of the people who would rush out & buy them!

I just hope it doesn't happen.

"Why would rescue be busy? if they become so popular demand will outstrip supply".....

For the same reason all rescues are busy - people get bored, find they can't cope, don't have time, don't like puddles on the floor, don't have the finances etc etc.... All my dogs have been rescue (1 GSD, 2 GH) and although they are really loving, the things they have been through make me cry (and all the ones I can't rehome).

My first thought was "hey great, more Zoomies" but thinking logically, he's far too busy jetsetting to be a proper IG daddy.

... and Zoomie still pees and poos in the house everynight and if he feels the need to dominate one of my other dogs he goes and pees in their bed.

No much wonder rescue would be full!

I don't mind - I wash my floor twice a day and love him to bits but he's the first of seven dogs I've had that won't house-train completely... I'd read it's a breed/Toy dog thing before I even got him and still love him utterly.

I wouldn't give Will Young an IG - I don't think he's got the lifestyle to suit them ie. single minded devotion to their needs :huggles:

I just wish people who spouted statements like "demand would out weigh supply" looked into the breed they were talking about first.

Why is it our breed has NEVER (& hopefully WONT ever) become commercialised ?

Why do we have hardly ANY pet market ?

Why do people buy our breed, then 90% per cent after less than a year re-home because the cant cope ?

Answer: Because they are a specialist breed. They are not your normal run of the mill dog. Whilst they are extremely loving, funny & can be the perfect companion, they are also extremely HARD work & great care & supervision needs to be taken.

The last thing the breed needs is a sudden rush of totally uneducated to the needs of the breed people rushing out to buy one cos it is the current "in thing".

They are not a "small whippet" as some beleive & unless you think long & hard about your life style, your home, your needs as well as the dogs DONT GET ONE.
